Please, make that part where it says about Restoring Shields Red, Bold and 72-sized font. Seriously, it was like a second Christmas when i finally met a geth using it for shields. Looks like eyes of most -random- geth are so damaged by Hunter mode that they can't read about shields.
Or maybe just scores are so important that few points are much better than working in team?

Holding position? Screw it. Throw the turret away to get some prizzze.

while i get you point it actualy often can make sense to spec it offensive and let it tank.
Even on gold it can tank primes/atlas/etc. while still dealing alright damage.
Overloadspamming and a flamethrowing turret can clear hunter/pyro-packs in no time and without someone even talin a hit, you can completly lockdown a lane on ur own.
Healing is nice to have (even on gold) but i actualy prefer when the eng in the group does said thing.

Uh, I'm a geth engineer and deploy it behind my cover. It's so useful for shields. Firepower? Not so much

Iv droped my turret inside a hot zone and gone off to mop up flankers before, being able to support my team from two fronts is pretty sweet.

You are right, indeed. But sometimes (like as said holding position) it really makes me slightly mad when instead of restoring shields Turret is floating somewhere away... Without really holding someone. And the worst part they -keep- throwing it at -random- locations.

It's incredibly good either way, but I use it for shields.

ive tried a defensive geth eng and a defensive asari justicar both require other people being near the defensive area of the turret/bubble, as it happens their both quite handy when used but 90% of the games i play now, everyone runs off and scatters all over the map to rambo everything (even recent gold games) meaning theres not a hell of a lot of use to them tbh.

The offensive solution can be used 100% of the time to your advantage, the defensive solution can only be used if/when team-mates utilise them which currently is rare at least for me.

I spec my turret for combat. Of course I only use it on silver.

It's really useful for flushing enemies from cover.

I tried using it defensively & got mowed down. It didn't recharge my shields when I needed it to. So since it's so unreliable I just toss it to distract enemies & shoot them in the back.

The spec of the turret doesn't matter if the Engineer creating it is an airhead.

What I do once I've learned the spawn points of a map is I'll fire a turret so it sits right in the enemies spawn area. It will usually kill one or two before going down and I'm able to kill a couple at the same time. Then I'll fire an intercepting turret near the opposition as they move towards us.

My cooldown is short enough that I can drop it in a hotspot but redeploy it three seconds later if need be.

At a one second some-odd cast time, I could care less what my turret is doing, or what I'm using it for - because I can just recast it whenever I feel like without any concern, and so I'll frequently just fire it where ever I feel like for whatever reason I feel like.

Ducking in cover? Throw one nearby for shields. Ducking in cover? Scan the area with Hunter Mode, bounce the turret off a wall or ceiling, and have it shoot at some dudes. Running somewhere? Throw it in front of me between covers. See some guys in a room ahead, above, or around me? Bounce it off something.

Even if you spec it fully to heal, or spec it fully to do damage, unless you're carrying something absurdly heavy and have no cooldown bonus (don't know why you would do that on the engineer), there's no reason to not be using it all the time. Throw it everywhere, anywhere.

I personally use my turret as very offensive, using my wallhack to deploy it in large groups of enemies to slow them down and will constantly deploy it while overloading the crap out of stuff (3 target overload). This is superb crowd control if you keep it up.

It's just which turret suits your play style and I am a bit more aggressive then sitting in Firebase White.

p.s Really loving this class.

I play full healer, not only for the team, for myself as well. My engineer only has 3 levels in health, so yeah, I need it more than my team.

I have mine with damage at rank 4/5 and frequency at rank 6. That way, it has decent long range firepower while still keeping people alive: since we also have shield gate, it could restore 1 shield and still be the difference between life and death!

It's nice but its rough to use when the teams running all over the map nowhere near each other. Can still launch one in someones direction and hope it helps tho, and use it for yourself.

If I'm hunkered down then I'll drop it so it can heal, but it also makes for a great distraction if I'm holding a flank against the enemy. Masses of swarmers coming towards you, but you really don't want to waste your time making sure you kill them all? Turret time!

Most people are terrible at the game and don't understand how to specc their characters effectively. Geth turret is way better when specced for healing(If I want to do damage I'll use my geth shotty), however most people seem to think that some minor dot is superior to full shield restoration every 4 seconds or so. Totally baffling to me, but not suprising consdering how most people play this game (on gold).

I do have mine set up for full shielding, but something occurred to me that may lead me to reconsider:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the turret seems to recharge shields almost immediately upon being thrown. Considering that I can throw turrets a lot faster than even the fastest shield recharge interval, I'm wondering if I should just keep throwing out offensive turrets instead...

I did a mixed set-up for my GE turret. I took the turret damage/heath for the 4th slot, then spec'd the rest for radius/frequency/restore amount.

I have 5/6/3/6/6

Overload does not interest me compared to Hunter Mode....

The turret is great when helping while you melee to be sure you don't die after pulsing a bit!

So, what you're saying is that if your geth engineer hasn't specced his turret to carry his team of bads who are apparently constantly having their shields shot off, he or she is doing it wrong?
