Geth Turret - Why are they always doing it wrong?

I spec my turret for healing. This weekend, it almost got the team killed.

See, my friends are behind cover, right? Taking heavy fire, yeah? So I helpfully deploy my turret over where they are.

*WHOOSH* boink boink boink...

...and then one of them freaks and starts leaving cover.

"GRENADE!"
"Oh fuuuc---"
"Wait, that's not a grenade, that's a turret."
"DAMNIT ACYL."

lol. I actually have problems with turrets absorbing my shots when they are right in front of me... Stupid shotguns with no AP mods...

When I play my GE, I like to toss the turret behind the enemies to draw aggro and then take out as many as I can before it goes down (and I replant it close to home if needed or just same spot again).

I think this works fairly well - you don't really need shield restore when they're not shooting at you.

how much does the 'gun' on the turret do? My impression was 'not much', so I evo4 healing and evo6 for flamethrower. Most time, I would use it offensively, except when I need a quick shield restore, I'd pop it right next to me...

shield restored? and back into aggro mode again.

My Turret is specced for full shield restore, and I deploy it to the side/middle of the party when bunkered, and as a scout/medibot when moving (throw turret forwards, team moves to turret repeat). I have found that if you mix the spec and go for damage and health, then the turret does not perform as well and often choses to kill rather than heal shields. My team mates are more important than the scoreboards. If I come last, but my team mates survived, I'm happy.

I have been turned down from Gold lobbies because I told them that I don't have flamethrower spec...
I have also been turned down because with sniper/assault rifle optimisation, I choose the Raptor X which gives me a higher DPS and power recharge than my Carnifex II. (No I don't have a Geth shottie)

Many people seems to think that a Geth Turret is only good for shield healing, and some people actually gets offended if you use your turret offensively. Well, i disagree. I think the Geth Pyro is a very fun and a very viable build, even on gold.


People don't get offended, it's just that by speccing your turret for support, you improve your entiere team overall DPS by allowing them to play more boldly and pressure in situations where survival should have been prioritized.

The flamer turret will bring more DPS on lower difficulty with uncoordinated teammates (= selfish build.), the support turret will completely outshine it on gold with a good team (= team/synergy build.)

In every single multiplayer game in existence, healing is a tool to deal more damages by shrugging off retaliation/keeping the pressure when you shouldn't be able to. "Selfish builds" will always be overshadowed by well oiled "Team builds."

It is especially true with the Geth Engineer in this game, because he has overload, which is completely broken with disruptor ammos, provided you are using a weapon with high ammunition proc chances, the flamer turret is the last thing he needs to do more damages.

I don't have time, or need, to throw a turret for flamer proc when everything in front of me dies from constant Tech Bursts.


Relevant copy-pasta. In the end, it all boils down to promoting team play over solo-heroism in a coop game.

Increase the frequency of restoring shields by 60%,

60% of 8 seconds = 4,8 seconds
8 - 4,8 = 3,2 seconds

So unless the tooltip description is wrong... It should be 3,2

I reset my Geth Engineer with the full shield set up on it to try and take it into a Gold Match before the deadline. Unfortunately I wont make it since I don’t have more than a single Ops Pack to use. It wouldn’t feel right to go in without at least having a full capacity on those consumables.

Anyways I’m kind of liking the shield one but not as much as the one I had with all the firepower to it. At least with that one I could drop it someplace to hold off some enemies instead of having to constantly drop the shield one to where I need to use it at.

Frequency, not interval.

Frequency is the number of cycles per second. Base number of cycles, or frequency, is 0.125. This is multiplied by 60%. Gives 0.2 cycles per second. So 1 cycle in 5 seconds = 1 heal in 5 seconds.

Short story, ingame, it's defintely not as fast as 3 seconds. Not even close.

I use it for shields... O.o
In fact, I've seen others use it for shields as well. Maybe you're just unlucky.

i drop mine on someone who got downed so once i (or someone else) pick them back up they don't get insta-dropped again by the atlas/prime/brute/ravager/etc. also good when the team rushes in (re-> BAD VANGUARDS, yes there are good ones) and starts getting in too much trouble so they die several times per wave. i was in a bronze match where a guy dropped a flame turret in the npc spawn point and hid so he couldn't get shot at. if you're that bad why even bother playing MP?

Coinop25 is on to something. I respeced out of the full healing turret and went with Armor and damage on rank 4, took healing on spec 5 then went w the flamethrower on rank 6 and I'm liking it alot more. If I need more healing I can just recast it. Also to those who scoff at the flamethrower, it staggers the enemy. Staggered enemies aren't shooting at you. It's pretty nice!

For it to be effective at dealing damage, you need to take all the combat turret choices and keep hunter mode up. With that, however, it'll hold its own just fine on Gold and dish out solid damage, and if it dies, just redeploy another one. It's not like it costs you anything to redeploy it.
