I've been playing on insanity with a Mattock + Viper, as I'm not great at getting headshots with a console controller (i'm on the 360), and the viper is pretty good in that it's got a good rate of fire and reloads quickly.

I've been doing well, but I tend to use the Mattock most and that defeats the point of playing as an infiltrator to me. I'd like to see if I can do better with some different weapon combos; so what are your favourite loadouts?

Raptor + displine shotgun (however you spell it)

OP use the raptor instead of the mattock...add the concentration mod...it will add onto your 35% sniper time dialation passive ability...and you will have a powerful time slow down rifle!

infiltrators 2 main abilities are sniper rifle slowdown and cloak....you might as well use them

My personal favorites (in no particular order):

Setup 1: Phalynx, Tempest, Raptor, Scimitar. It most closely resembles the Predator-Tempest-Viper-Scimitar combo I had in Mass Effect 2.

Setup 2: Claymore only. Because it is the freaking Claymore.

M-98 Widow and an ultralight N7 Hurricane for very, very rarely used backup. The former can nearly one-shot a Harvester with my preferred "build". Probably could take it down in one shot if I wore all Hahne-Kedar gear and the combat visor that looks like Kai Leng's, but I don't much care of how that loadout looks.

Would try others loadouts, but from an RP standpoint, Book Shepard really, really likes his Widow.

I used the N7 Valiant, the Mattock, and a light pistol or SMG for backup. Mostly used the Valiant. You can increase the ammo to three shots and that seemed to do the trick for me.

Black Widow + Hurricane. BW is positively lethal to everything. Hurricane is for husks and whatever when I'm forced into close combat. Idea anti-heavy build. Takes care of Brutes, Banshees, and Atlases in short order. Can have some problems with lots of weaker ranged oponents (Cannibals, Marauders, Assault Troopers, etc) if you run into ammo problems w/ BW. Still, the ability to quickly neutralize the most dangerous enemies in the game make this build attractive.

Valiant + *variable secondary weapon*. Valiant isn't quite as powerful as BW, but you can take a more power secondary weapon w/out gimping cooldowns. Probably the most versatile combination. Can substitute in any mid-weight assault rifles, shotguns, or pistols without hurting cooldowns too badly.

Wraith + Vindicator. CQC build. Crazy amounts of fun. Wraith is powerful, light, and has a fast reload. Only disadvantages are a small clip and low ROF, which end up not really mattering since you can get both shots off under the cloak bonus and then reload. Vindicator is there for general purpose engagements (where CQC is not an option) due to its light weight and versatility. If you've got higher level weapons, you might be able to substitue in the Valiant for more firepower at range.

I've got a sniper and a shotgunner. The sniper rolls Valiant/Tempest or Valiant/Eagle depending on how much armor I think I'm going to face in a mission; she was actually a Viper sniper in 2 but I don't care for it in its ME3 incarnation, and the punchy low-recoil Valiant is a pretty satisfying and effective substitute.

The shotgunner still hasn't settled on a favorite loadout. Currently she's got a Scimitar/Vindicator thing going, which is pretty close to the Scimitar/Locust loadout she mainly used in 2, but it's not remotely ideal.

May I suggest trying the Wraith?  It's expensive, but I think it is just about the ideal shotty for infiltrators for reasons I outlined in my earlier post.

I only played one Infiltrator through so far and it was certainly marksman oriented, so...

Predominantly it was Mantis and Predator early. I agree with you on Viper, I think it is pretty decent, especially with the right mods (although maybe slightly better on Soldier). For the most part I ran Mantis though until I could get the Black Widow, then finished the game with that. I don't think I ever backed up the Black Widow with the Vindicator, but I agree with the above about it being a good all around weapon that can be added to most loads due to its light weight.

If I were to play an SP shotgun infiltrator I do know that eventually I would settle on Claymore. I am not completely sure what "base" shotgun I would go with. I like the Katana the most overall in this game out of Katana, Eviscerator and Scimitar though. I am curious about the Wraith though...how much more damage than the Eviscerator does it really do? My only experience with it has been in MP and it was underwhelming there (partly due to low level).

I roll with the N7 Crusader and Paladin. The shotty has crazy long range/close range and the Paladin with the scope for back up.

Black Widow and nothing else. Even on a 360, if you can't hit headshots with a concentration mod + the passive time dilation, I don't know how you can hit anything with any weapon. I'm not a particularly great shot, and by the end of the game when that concentration mod was fully upgraded, I was finding it to be too much time dilation if anything.

As for husks, I just bring Liara for those missions: spam singularity + warp on the groups, then use incinerate to mop up any stragglers.

BW + Hurricane sounds good, I'll try that. I think I gave up on high powered sniper rifles early because of the mission on Palaven's moon. Husks were damn near impossible to hit in the head with the mantis, with them bobbing about all the time, and my squad mates were about as useful as a cat flap in an elephant house.

Usually go with BW and Hurricane against Reapers, and N7 Valiant and Tempest against Cerberus.

My preference is Mantis/Predator, Husks are killed with incinerate and squad powers :)
But I don't see myself doing that on a console, like you I'm not accurate with dual analog controls, I probably wouldn't even be using sniper rifles in that case >_>

On my Insanity playthrough myself, with 4 missions to go. Infiltrator with Energy Drain as my bonus power. As for my prefered loadouts:

Loadout 1: Long-range. M-96 Mattock (Extended Mag/Stability), M-12 Locust (UL Materials/Extended Mag), Black Widow (Spare Clip/Concentration Mod)

Loadout 2: Close-range. M-96 Mattock, M-12 Locust, M-23 Katana (Smart Choke/Spare Clip), and Scorpion Ordnance Pistol (Pistol Scope/H-C Barrel)

That's about the most I can equip without seriously over-encumbering myself. Occasionally I'll swap for the Revenant or Falcon with an M-6 Carnifax as a backup, if I need a little more firepower than normal.

While I've only played soldier so far, when I play infiltrator I could probably play the same setup of, N7 Valiant and Phaeston, phaeston is pretty much a smg and AR in one. It sounds awesome.

If you didn't have the N7 weapons then the black widow would be just as good, pretty similar.

Right now I have Valiant and Shruiken

When it's all said and done I'll probably go Widow/Black Widow or Javelin

Does ULM work in singleplayer?

A Widow I is really all I need, as I'm pretty good at getting headshots. I would like a sidearm though.

I tend to go for Mantis, Avenger and Paladin (if they're levelled up enough so they weigh a lot less). Then you have your sniper rifle, a quick-firing gun for close up enemies, and a powerful heavy pistol for a) when you run out of ammo for the others and B) picking off close enemies that won't come up from behind cover!

Talon+Raptor.
or
Black Widow+Crusader.

Just depends on what kind of cooldowns I'm willing to put up with.
