I do, actually. Thank you for the condescension. Nothing in that ad is untrue. BioWare has been, and will continue to make money off of your hissyfits.

Good for BioWare.

If you did then you'd know it is a lie of omission. Also I have no idea why a hissyfit is being attributed to me when I have said nothing even resembling that. I can only see it as you making a weak attempt to insult me.

edit: to make it clear for you.

Lying by omission

Also known as a continuing misrepresentation, a lie by omission occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions. When the seller of a car declares it has been serviced regularly but does not tell that a fault was reported at the last service, the seller lies by omission.

Damn, no wonder y'all keep ranting about how BioWare lied to you.

It's clever and it's true, whether like it or not.

EA is a business not your dear old granny, brother, sister, mother, father, friend or faithful little puppy.

The way it is presented is a lie of omission.

It's reality. Deal with it.

They are not also your diary, blog or personal spokesmen.

They are not there to further your agenda, thats your job not theirs and they have their own agenda.

In fact I am of the belief that for all the temper tantrums, all the seeking validation through media and huff and puff... It is all created and generating more sales in the first place and keeping it in the forefront as far as free advertising goes. I know people who bought it just because wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. The bigger deal you make of it, the more people will be interested in finding out for themselves.

Its a reality that people dislike the ending deal with it. Its also a reality that when you look at gaming sites like IGN and all them they have ads for mass effect 3 everywhere which means they get money from EA. If you have a problem with people the way people are posting on here then leave and live under a rock for all I care. But don't be saying your tried of hearing about all of it when your the one that comes into the post that are label stuff about the ending or stuff about bioware and EA lying to there consumers. So again leave don't read them you have a choice so use it.

What on earth are you babbling about?

Really? A "misconception" that ME3 has created the biggest fan reaction than any other game in the medium? Uh, okay. I'll make sure to mark down that you guys just aren't actually having that big a reaction and try to spread the word around, thanks for the clarification.

Entertainment Weekly is as much an expert on video games as Octomom is to child-rearing.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

How does the ad "foster a misconception" about ME3?

Welcome to the spin room.  When placed next to the blurb about the perfect reviews a normal person is going to think that the reactions have been all positive.   If someone says a product has gotten over 75 perfect reviews I'm sure the next thing in their mind is going to be,  oh man I bet people really hated the conclusion.

That's some pretty cool selective reading you got there.

They are omitting that it was a negative response. Anyone who didn't know about it would assume it was a positive response with the way it was presented.

Just before it mentions the response your see "75 perfect scores".

You come onto post that are linked to the ending about people being upset about the ending( and dont say you dont I can what topics you posted on most of them have something to do with the ending.) Again if you don't like the post in the current topic leave the topic and go some place else. I sure there is a FMA thread someplace that is missing a fanboy so shoo.Image IPB

Hm "bigger fan reaction than any other video game's conclusion" would this still be considered a vocal "minority"?

Contrary to your self belief that you can dictate which threads I enter or not, the fact is these forums are for all including myself to talk about anything on topic of any thread created within the rules of the forum. I did so here and will continue to do so in future. I post in positive threads and negative ones.

No smart business man goes around saying ( x ) amount of people dislike my product, now please buy it.

You can call it spin if you like but that is reality and yes you will have to learn to deal with it.

That's an assumption you might make but it doesn't necessarily hold true for others.  The statement doesn't need to qualify itself to be true and how it is interpreted is up to the reader.  In either case it doesn't absolve the individual the responsibility of finding out whether the reaction is positive or negative themselves.

Of course you don't.  But someone with no knowledge of the situation would assume the reaction was positive.  Don't even deny that.

You can't honestly tell me they weren't trying to put a positive spin on it. It is by every definition of the phrase a lie of omission.

A vocal minority who does nothing but scream as loud as they can, for as long as they can, still creates a reaction.

It's an advertisement...  and by that definition then most every ad out there engages in lies of omission on some level or other.

You whine when BioWare advertises, in your mind, "false" things. You whine when BioWare advertises true things that even you don't deny are true.

Good grief. Do you just not BioWare to advertise at all? For anything?

Strange that the majority who likes the ending haven't stood up and been counted then. Since they should easily drown out a loud, persistent vocal minority.

I've never said the majority likes the ending, thanks for being wrong. The MAJORITY are people who simply don't care enough one way or another. It's called the "silent" majority for a reason.

It's a joke probably pertaining to the whole false advertisement thing going around. Insulting? Yeah. Still funny though?... Yeah...
