Harbringer can Control other things besides collectors without needing a hive mind intelligance?!"

Via Reaper implants, which a husk (Turian version of a husk, but still) yes. Note, however, that they are not optimized for communication, as the exchange kills the Marauder and Harby has no motor control over the Marauder.

I finally got around to reading this (it was in my bookmarks bar for days!) and wow.... If this was the ending they gave us I think it would have been the most amazing end to such an epic story. Bravo sir.... well done. Bioware this guy put you to shame....

 Very well done, Loved it!

Although I have some questions to clarify (I read this a few days ago and I don't want to read through again since the small font of this forum gives me headaches).

Are the mass relays destroyed in all endings exept the conventional warfare? Or are they only destroyed in the Destroy ending proposed by Vengeance? (I got a little confused after you said that the post-credits scenes can only be achieved by relays being saved throughconventional warfare.)

Mass Relays are destroyed in all ending excluding convential warfare, which would make CW seem like an easy choice BUT it requires a very high amount of EMS to win, and even then casualties are astronomically high.

I found it implausible that Dreadnoughts jumping into atmosphere would be the only way to get a decent firing solution, but overall, your ending was great. It wasn't naively over ambitious and should've been completely feasible. It incorporated the war asset and ME2suicide mission-esque choice dynamics quite substantially, without making the number of permutations untenable.

Good stuff.

even with the star baby this would have been a better final mission, I cannot fathom why with this much hype they did not finish the series out right but as time moves on i'm growing less and less passionate, its just not worth it anymore. i'll probably move on to red dead redemption or LA noire may then i'll get a game with a satisfying conclusion

Don't play LA Noire then

A much more reasonable ending compared to what we have. Still keeps some of the "Artistic Integrity" they still highly value.... But gives it a twist for the better and answers most of what people are looking for.

I still cannot fathom why bioware couldn't have come up with an ending like this, along with epic set pieces for the final mission. Did they leave the Earth mission to the last minute and end up losing time? I mean, they've proved they can make good finales in the past: The Ilos/citadel mission to stop saren and sovereign was awesome and the suicide mission I felt was one of the best of the series. Virmire was also proof of bioware's expertise, even Tuchanka and Rannoch were pretty goddamn awesome. And then all of a sudden they just drop the ball at the worst possible moment, the final conclusion of the whole trilogy...

Wonderful! I like the way you handled the conventional warfare part.

Holy crap, that was awesome! How did I ever miss this thread before? Wonderful ideas on making gameplay part of the resolution, as well as the rather Shin Megami Tensei-like "pick your totally depending on you alone outcome which you will not only have to live with, but also FIGHT FOR" which implies different ending sequences for different finalities (as I assume that if Shep sides with any of the other three, he will have to deal with Harbinger under different conditions).

Me like.

I must say, this is probably the best example of changing the ending that doesn't change the "artistic integrity" that everyone says they can't change.

It essentially keeps the three original endings without the inclusion of the StarBrat and his terrible logic, which most people seem to hate. It also includes the happy ending that people want through the "conventional warfare" option.

Also, all the additional content that you added in through including more war assets and adding space battle content would make the last battle seem so much more epic in scope.

Now all we need is additional content and better handling of the LI in the main portion of the game, and ME3 will even more awesome.

I haven't posted here in months but I have to comment on this. OP's work is actually pretty amazing and I found the whole read pretty gripping. I prefer this ending a 1000 times to the actual one.

It's a good read, I especially liked the idea of several reapers having a consensus, even if the writing was a bit lacking in this part (or maybe they weren't reapers, I overread a little)
