Yeah, that's the problem; there's no way to get out of that conversation without Rivalry Points if you don't want to romance him. At least when Liara decides to annoyingly hit on me when it's unwanted, shutting her down doesn't hurt my reputation with her.PorcelynDoll wrote...

Honestly I'm probably one of the only people who didn't really mind that everyone was Hawkesexual in Dragon Age 2.
Some people just have *it*, you know.
Anyway, the only real problem I had with everyone being bi was Mr. Rivalry Points Anders (which I suppose is actually a problem with FemHawke too).
I was able to flirt with Varric but he said his only love was Bianca
As for Anders, LadyHawke has the option to shut him down from the very beginning by saying I don't want you thinking of me that way. He gets miffed about it but I never had problems with him. Doesn't male Hawke have that dialogue too?

No, it's not *that* bad, like it wasn't absolutely terrible but she does spend three quarters of the game bringing up the trust issue with Cerberus, and she doesn't have much banter. I dunno, she fell completely flat for me compared to her personality in ME1. She was just... there. The Angry One wrote...
Is it really that bad? Never did a playthrough with her.. and probably never will unless BioWare fix the ending. I hear she's really *****y about Cerberus compared to Kaidan who's apologetic about the whole thing after Mars.
ME3 Ashley is effectively a furniture character. She's just sort of there, and otherwise doesn't really have any memorable moments. Can't speak to the romance content, but as a femshep friend, there's a crippling absence of any connection or bond between the two. There's no sisters-in-arms vibe anymore. It feels like someone quickly skimmed through her character notes from ME1, noted that she liked poetry, had sisters and didn't think much of Cerberus, and then wrote every scene she has around one or more of the above.
Well, except for that part where she's hungover on the floor, I guess. After getting drunk with Vega of all people.
It didn't help that post Mars you're largely railroaded into treating her as a friend again, I suppose. I wanted the option to angrily refuse her request to rejoin the Normandy crew after that whole pointing-a-gun-at-you-and-buying-into-Udina's-accusations-of-how-Shepard-might-still-be-with-Cerberus fiasco. But I can't, because even if I deny her request, for some reason Shepard insists on being diplomatic about it. Nor could I berate her for being hungover on duty, or bring up aforementioned gunpointing and ask her what the hell she was thinking, for that matter.

I never noticed if it gave me rival points. I remember it having a broken heart icon. I'm going to go check that out.

Personally, I think it's pretty clear that Garrus is "straight" but I know they're are plently of gay male players out there that love him dearly. I wonder if there was any real discussion of making Garrus "come out of the closet" much like Kaiden did.
Why? Why you gotta make Garrus gay? Just play was a butch looking FemShep.

Anders has a crazy amount of rivalry/friendship points available throughout the game though, so the rejection is fairly moot, hes always going to be friendly if your pro mage and a rival if your pro templar...

Although I did mostly use Merrill as my mage anyway.
Come to think of it, it may be better to just skip that conversation altogether. It's the same tactic I use with Jack in ME2 (why don't you want to be my platonic friend, Jack?)

Also Kaiden was originally supposed to be open to maleShep romance in 1 but it was cut. But most of the audio is still on the disk so with mods, on PC you can totally romance him as maleShep. Some of dialoge is a little strange cause its incomplete but it still works. I have a save file with maleShep that romance Kaiden 1 & 2, loyal:D. Almost got with Tali though she is just so cute.
I don't know about Garrus the bromance is pretty awesome. But experimenting anyone, just between friends? Maybe the night of drinking something happens that they will never talk about again;)

I got to the point where I just edited in the healing tree for Merril and used her as I couldn't stand Anders' hypocrisy anymore.

Honestly is it that big a stretch if he's already willing to romance a totally alien species? Why not let his character stretch a bit more for those who'd like to have that option? He's got reach after all

I'd say flexibility. Well hell maybe both. I'd bet on Garrus winning any sparing match any way.

I didn't need it any more, the epic bromance was enough. Turns out what I really wanted was the deep emotional connection, not the sex.
. . . That said, you should totally have an option for a Tali/Garrus/Shepard threesome. Now that she's got Geth to help her jump-start her immune system, girl's going to want to have fun.
