God, I'm dumb.  I just realized why I did more damage after purging than I did after raging.  It's because Fortification purge already adds 70% melee damage bonus, before the additional 30% damage bonus spec.  For the longest time I assumed it was just the 30% increase.

Hell I'd like to know how the damage is panned out. You got a large value, how long it 'lasts' but it has a huge damage impact. I mean I've one shotted Troopers that're trying to stun-rod me with Ballistic Blade on gold for jebus sake. Just straight up dead in 1 blast before any DoT takes effect, no explosion required you know?

Feel like they coulda listed out impact dmg and DoT dmg and... I dunno, it's a bit confusing. But least knowing more dmg is... more dmg makes Rank 4 an easy pick for me, spread is already pretty huge.

@Zen: Oh yeah, no the damage bonus - all 80% or whatever, exist only on purge (and lasts for 20 seconds, so you can turn it back on and keep it). I just kinda pulse it on/off prior to a charge on a Soldier if im about to get into some heavy CQC.

Actually have my Krogan Soldier setup as a split, Rank 4 Rage is the dmg boost (largest chunk outa the thing) and went hp/shield 25% for rank 6. Makes a good 'balance' for when your not setup to easily get Rage like the BM is with charge to aid in that.

Sooo..  After looking at the HP Values of the enemies, it turns out you were completely right about the heavy melee damage being at around 1000, and 750 for the Batarian and Krogan respectivly.  The light Melee seems to be at around 200ish for the Batarian's, and around 500 for the Krogan.  You were pretty much right..  Err..  Where did you find this info out by the way?

Can't remember exactly where I ran into that stuff but general testing to back up findings from people poking around in the PC files. Thing is that kinda thing can get changed any given week on the MP side of things. For instance the Drell's heavy melee is 600 dmg, now I know that to be true due to it being posted as a balance change a few weeks ago.

Same way I know the Talon does about 4 dmg less per pellet then the Wraith - but has 4 quick-firing shots instead of 2 with same basic weight ratio. One of the reasons I feel the Wraith needs a damage boost with only 2 shots, barely makes it worth it over the evi still but... ah well. One of them funny things, a lot of people don't realize Evi/Wraith have about same weight class cause, if they have the 2, Wraith is probably only rank 1-2 so its weights naturally a bit higher.

Anyways, testing like you've been doing I guess outside of other sources from these forums and whatnot. May not be 100% on the ball since it's not listed out directly in game or in an update though like I said above - what's in MP and what the PC files show can be 2 wildly different things due to it using values on biowares server side of things.

How they manage that while still making a player be host is... I dunno but it's probably also the reason you get booted off if EA has a hiccup (even on consoles). Something other games don't have an issue with as there 'server' is mostly just used for finding... you know, servers, its match making and that's about it.

Really hope it gets more stable eventually...

Actually scratch that. Just tested a tiny bit more. Krogan light melee is exactly 400 (Maybe a tad less) It's enough to kill Bronze troopers (800 hp) in two hits, but not enough to kill Cannibals (900) hp.

And yeah, here's hopin' for some stability.

Just tried this on Gold, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Honestly it's a top tier power with cone and explosion specced with max power damage.

@Adhin I actually have the other passive specced for weapon/power/weapon.  I rarely if ever bother with the level 6 weight drop passives, and I figure I need all the boost to weapon damage I can get seeing as like you say, blades aren't really spammable and you need to kill that group before they unstagger or you're in trouble.  That being said the DR and health combined does seem more useful than just one with weapon damage. Guess I'll do that.  Thanks.

I just left out Blade Armor entirely and maxed out everything else.  inferno grenades are more useful.

Because of the way DR increases survivability exponetially, having more DR will make your melee build survive that much better.

Seeing as how the class is all about shooting blades and punching dudes in the face, yes 10% DR is very valuable.

Regarding the Inferno Grenades though, I seem to remember them being much stronger. One of my first builds soon after the game came out was a Krogan Soldier with them on and it rocked. Did the Grenades get nerfed at any point? Or was it because I played a mix of Bronze and Silver diluting my memories from back then?

Bronze and Silver.

I personally can't use em effectivly, but people tell me they can be very good.  If you have luck with em, good for you, I recommend you just drop em.
