Really are creepily similar to the descriptions of indoctrination, specially the eerie inky black shadows. I find it hard to believe that this similarity was not intended. Thoughts?

Nope, absolutly no connection at all, indoctrination was never a part of the series.

Jk, yes they are an obvious allusion to indoctrination.

Honestly, I doubt it.

I think it was part of the cheap ploy to show how Shepard is suffering with the idea of so many innocents dying that he can't save.

maybe, then again PTSD might finally be catching up to Shep.

Goodlord, Shep has been through hell and back. Lost friends, watched planets burn... eventually every person reaches that breaking point. Unfortunately, they use the kid from Earth to symbolize this fracture rather than using someone of merit such as Kaidan or Ashley or Mordin or anyone lost that was of import. Then turns out same kid is space-brat.... /sigh Thinking about this makes my head hurt. Honestly, if it were PTSD I would like to think Shep would recall someone who actually meant something, then again who knows. All we can do is speculate and despair at what were are stuck knowing happens in the end.

Yes I do know all about Indoc theory, even if I believe it is incredibly unlikely since EA would have thrown their planned ending to the wolves the moment the backlash started. I was part of the megathread before it got horribly off topic. I'm merely bringing this up after actually paying some attention during one of the dreams.

That's what I thought on my first playthrough, but the shadows and random reaper noises, along with the increased number of those shadows as time passes really does match the indoctrination description from the codex, that you hear from the rachni queen, and pretty much everything else you learn about it.

I'm just wondering whether they thought they were going somewhere with indoctrination then changed their mind. Otherwise, I'm not really sure what the point of the subtleties in the dreams was.

To be honest the indoctrination theory is the only thing that makes sense to the space magic of the current ME3 endings. We know in Arrival that the Reaper device Object Rho emitted a powerful array that in result decompacitated Shepard for some time minus the meds injected in his or her system by the deranged doctor.

I personally believe Project Rho was the breaking point that allowed the Reapers to slowly indoctrinate Shepard. I've noticed in the intro that no one notice the child nor helps him aboard the shuttle. In time of panic, children are the first ones to be evacuated it is quite odd that none noticed the child thus what I strongly believe was indoctrination that soon resulted in the deranged and errie dream sequences. That is my take.

PTSD? if you play as a bad ass true renegade..come on Torfan..Mindior my Shepard should have way worse nightmares then some kid he met for 10 secs getting fragged...If they were goin to do a dream sequence at least make it so I could chase down scantily clad asari in the woods ....or at least watch Miranda walk endlessly up some stairs..mmmm..that's a dream sequence!

Keep watching those videos.

Eventually you'll have a RL dream with oily shadows.

And when you wake up, you'll think everything's normal but you'll really be a husk.

..and then you'll understand.

Seriously, they spend a few seconds on that friggin white circle at the end of every dream, which is beyond unorthodox...

In any normal dream sequence in a work of fiction, you would just cut to the person waking up...
But they hold the shot on the same white friggin' light they use at the end of the game...

I get the feeling this wasn't Bioware's original intention, but man, it would be great if they used it in this way for the EC DLC.

They would have to release this DLC free regardless of if they lose money, i would not want to PAY to see the end of my game when i have already bought the game from them.
It's funny how their fail ending created an incredibly decent theory with a hell of a lot to back it up and they failed to implement this plan all along.

If they ever did want to use an indoctrination theory they would have almost finished making it but still had another hour or so of gameplay writing left to accomplish when EA stepped and said "hurry up" so they had to scrap it from the final battle and just insert Red blue and green.

If that's true I'd imagine Javik may have had a lot to do with the ending and helping use the crucible but since that ending was cut he was drawn back and thrown in as day one DLC to make money.

just my thoughts.

Pretty sure it was just meant to reflect on all the people who died in the games that shep couldnt save, and his/her guilt if he/she was a renegade, nothing more than that

The first time I saw one of the dream sequences I thought to myself; "Oh god they better not do one of those, is it real or isn't it type of endings." I'm hoping the ending turns out to be indoctrination and we are all just the sad victims of the biggest trolling of all time. Sadly, I doubt that's the case, but one can only hope. Those dream sequences combined with how the game ends really does allow them to play the dream/indoctrination card. Let's just hope BioWare is smart enough to use it.

Possibly, once again, this is what I thought at first. Play through again with indoctrination in mind and believe me it makes a difference.
