As frustrated as I am with much of Mass Effect 3 at this point, I can't help but find this a bit funny. It's probably just me.

It never said the reaction was positive. They didn't lie, just so you know.

Sure they did.

If someone didn't know much about the Mass Effect series and doesn't read a lot of gaming press, they might not have heard about the controversy surrounding the endings. Reading that ad, they aren't going to think the ending was controversial. They are going to read it as something that everyone is raving about. And that is the intention of the suits that created the ad.

You do realize that not all the fan reaction has been bad, right? I think they mean in general.

No, just 80% of it. Posted Image

What's wrong with that picture seems accurate? It has provoked a big reaction and has received lots of perfect scores, it is a great game, even if the end is weaker than I'd hoped.

I know, right?

But because it doesn't make it seem like OMG THE GAME IS HORRIBLE! Then they don't like it.

Obviously you aren't going to market a game by saying, "Oh, and people hated the endings." But outright lying and spinning the reaction to the endings as 'postive' is a fairly blatant example of shameless marketing.

Instead the ad should have praised elements of the game that were better executed, and got a much better reception from the fanbase.

It never said the reaction was positive. They didn't lie, just so you know.

I already said it, but I'll say it again.  It's lying by omission.  Its a form of lying.  Look it up, seriously.

Like I said before. Not all the fan reaction has been bad. They meant in general. Both good and bad. So no, they didn't lie.

I have no stats, but I can say 1 out of 7 of my friends who played it thought the ending "wasn't bad".  Me and the other 5 hate it, with a passion.  I'm waiting for my buddy I loaned it to who was the guy who pestered me for years to play me1 to finish it and get his take.  I have a hunch we'll be batting 1 for 8.

This is why the most of the community is just horrid... Overreacting over stupid idiotic crap like this.

Spinning the negative fan reaction as something positive is sort of a dick move.

So is making a 0/10 user review for game because of its ending

Kudos to bioware for +10 Renegade points haha

Insultingly bad? Here we go again - an article, an ad, or something that someone supposedly said is terrible because it doesn't involve railing against the endings or bowing and scraping before the endings haters!

At this point, I actually agree with just about everything in that EW article.

Out of my friends, one really didn't like it, one was annoyed by it, one thought it was okay, one thought it was really good, and I thought it was amazing. So, that's 2/5 who didn't like it and 3/5 that did. I can no, utilizing your logic, state with assurance that a majority of ME3 fans enjoyed the ending.

I think people should realise , with this statement , that your old bioware is dead .

Simple as that , So you can either admire them as new EA corps or move on .
That is it :) , this is a terrific closing statement for pro or anti fan .

So? And all dozen or so friends of mine who played it liked the endings. It really means nothing.

The fan reaction was good and bad. The way EW worded it was correct, and not a lie. They were including both positive and negative reactions.

I'm sure EA will be thrilled when a verified majority of their customers return to buy the next mass effect. Mind you, 51% would count.

That is a fact.

One needs only to go to any forum where the endings are being discussed or the game reviewd, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. Contrast that with Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2 in the month or two after release. While both games had people who disliked or were disappointed in them, there was never any doubt that they were a minority. The tone of discussion and the user reviews for both games were mostly positive.

60% of my friends and I will, ergo, a vast majority of ME3 fans enjoyed the ending and will return to buy the next ME game. Again, going by your logic.

No, it isn't. There is no statistical fact that a majority hated the endings. There are no numbers that can be proven valid. And no one will probably ever know.

What an outrage marketing that isn't hurting the product because 2% of the fanbase hated it!? what an insult!! I expected them to pay good money to hurt themselves because a few minorities can't move on with their lives. What kind of world is this.. who does EA think they are promoting their products in a good light! lol aaaaAAAAAaaaaa

EA just banged you and threw money on the pillow aka Free DLC

So every person who played the game talk on forums.

I guess theres no way that those ppl complaining could be the same ppl throughout the internet with different names for each forum.

Or theres no possibility that ppl who had no problem with the ending have no real reason to raise hell on the internet and make themselves stand out.

Pretty much this.  The BW you knew is dead, and all we're trying to do is hold onto anything we can desperately waiting to see if the old BW will poke it's head around the corner and say, "**** sorry guys we really messed up, we're back though and we'll make everything right!!"

Not gonna happen.....honestly it's very sad, it's the end of an era really.  EA has destroyed everything that made BioWare great.  I predict full liquidation and assimilation of all BioWare branding and assets within 2-4 years.
