So BioWare's flat out trolling us now. Great.
honestly, something like this is more in the realm of the publisher than the developer.
probably more accurate to blame EA for this one, not Bioware.
Gonna have to agree with this. This feels like a carefully designed marketing strategy from a major corporation not a communique between Bioware and us.
Still dishonest as hell though.

Same. Not been the same since the acid... but eh.. anyway.. Yeah the ending was not very good but this email didn't outrage me.
Same thing for a lot of us with that acid haha.... same boat with ya there. It makes you more creative and is a young youth thing. : )
It didnt outrage me at all, I have seen so mnay shady business tactics by now I am used to it. The amount of sh** from the 360 and P3 marketing sides, Apple, Google, etc... all the big ones they all do stuff like this.
I stand behind that I wouldnt care if they went out though, but maybe something better than that if Hudson and Walters were relived of their duties, that would sit okay with me since if not for the ending it would have been a heck of a lot better. Not perfect, but a WHOLE lot better.
I totalyl understand what you mean but I must respectfulyl disagree. At least with Hudson. Not really made my mind up about Walters yet... But Hudson birthed the series. I don't think the ending should be his demise.

Civil arguments????? Weird LOL
He did have the vision for it and in a lot of ways I am grateful and have respect for that. If the story of him and Walters doing the ending without peer approval that really pisses me off.
I certainly see your side of it though, no BS.

I saw this earlier but assumed that it must be fake but...wow.
Really, Bioware and/or EA....REALLY?!!!!
Not only is that insulting to those of us who dislike the ending, it is also incredibly misleading.
What are you thinking?!

Honestly this does not help their case, Can't anybody take responsibility nowadays? Its all about passing it down to the next person or blaming other people, it is never YOUR FAULT. Own up to your mistakes, don't send an e-mail like this hoping to gather support/deal with the firestorm. It isn't helping.

They just try to cover their shame in an absolutely unjustifyable way. I sure wont buy any BioWare game/product until they fix the ending.

THE HUMANITY!!!!!
Really, they should just put "Lol the ending sucks and all our fans hate it! lol" on everything, right guys? Right?
Jesus, companies have a PR department for a reason. I can't believe people are surprised/angry about this. I'm sure if the Titanic had sunk in the 21st century White Star would be marketing the whole situation in a similar manner "The Titanic has provoked a bigger reaction amongst passengers than any other cruise liner in history!".

This is ,,, I lack the words to say what this is.

Yes... it provoked a BAD one!"Has provoked a bigger fan reaction than any other videogame's conclusion in history"
The sort of thing that any marketing school would teach you to downplay in the press? Why would they highlight this?

It is deceptive; when coupled with the "75 perfect scores" it suggests the discussion surrounding it is positive, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. They can still advertise the game in a positive light; I don't think anybody expects them not to, but not through measures such as these.

It's a ballsy move, I'll give them that. But the game DID get 75 perfect scores. And it HAS provoked a massive fan reaction, and there ARE positive discussions around it. They're just making the best out of the current situation with heavy PR spin. I'm not saying I agree with it, as such, I just don't really think it's that big of a deal. Same way I take pretty much every damn advert on the TV with a massive pinch of salt. It's marketing - basically just creative obfuscation of the truth. I'm just surprised that so many people are so shocked over this. I'm be more surprised if they weren't doing stuff like this, to be honest.

Yeah, well....
Maybe you should've realised your ending was crap instead of pretending you have artistic integrity. That will get you a lot further.

I'm going to assume this is EA's doing and not Bioware. I can't imagine that anyone at Bioware, at least the people that actually worked on the game and are working on the EC DLC would be okay with releasing something like this.the_geo_law wrote...
This is a screenshot of the email from the official Mass Effect 3 email. Some people doubted its autheticity. Well, there is the actually email screencapped. I feel this needed clarification to ensure that the audiance gets the full experience of the Mass Effect 3 experience.

I think BioWare's pre-release statements and their handling of post-release reaction should be included in some manual on PR strategies as an example of how you can do it wrong.
