Space Bieber. First off, he's ugly. Second, he has an annoying voice that may as well be voiced by a teenage girl. Third, my Shepard is forced to give a schit about him in that corny sequence of events escaping from Earth. But then that's not even the end of him. Next he shows up in Shep's dreams, which was actually a cool idea (remembering the dead/hearing their voices again) but singlehanded ruined by this little schit being the focus of all of them. Then he tops it all off by being the catalyst, which I don't even have to explain.
Other than that, I think I just about like everybody.

I think part of this is a discrepency between fans and casuals. Tali is more popular among the former, and Miranda among the latter.Storm258 wrote...
The funny thing is, that this didn't seem to work at all, among male players, Tali for example is much more popular as LI than Miranda or Ashley.

I noticed this to, Shes more....grown up. However i cant be sure that the reason for this isnt because she describes herself in the first game as little more than a child (age wise) in asari culture and they're just showing her developing as she grows up. But yeah the pudgy face went and those striking blue eyes suddenly became more apparent along with the cleavage.
Yes, I loved seeing how she progressed during the games. In ME 1 she was basically shy and unsure about herself. In ME 2 she's grown more strong and independent. In ME 3 there was that scene were Liara confronts Javik after Thessia, and I just thought: "WOW! Liara has become one hell of a badass!" - in a positive way.
The face changed a bit, that's true, but that didn't seem to me as an attempt to make her sexier, but simply cause of better graphics possibilites or just work on the face.
While I can see why someone would romance Ashley, Miranda really only seems to be there cause of her body. And somehow this reflects when you actually romance her - then it all looks pretty much like she and Shepard are just f***-buddies, but not that they love each other or anything.
EDIT:
I am sure you're right about that, although I don't think that is necessary. Casuals would most likely buy it then cause of the action parts and see it mostly like an action movie. Maybe there are people actually buying a game just cause of some hot-chick-character in it, but ... that's just wrong.Mr. Big Pimpin wrote...

Oh and Zaeed is also a total wash. Not even enough content surrounding him to form a proper opinion. He's just there.

That was quite the blanket statement to make. Personally I prefer Miranda and my playthroughs of both ME1 and ME2 are easily on double digits.

Which makes him annoying in a very different way than Ashley. Also, the "tough guy with daddy issues" is way overdone.
I think miranda and jacob are the equivalents of each other, they both have daddy issues. Fitting that they have a past together.

I liked Kai Leng in the books, though. He was over the top in ME 3, but I can't hate him totally. At least he was a challenge to fight.

Kinda funny, given that even in the real world there's kinda this rule amongst men that hot girls with daddy issues are easy to get. Well, good thing Liara meets her pretty cool dad in ME 3!

That's Jack. In essence she blames all her failings on cerberus. She's a sociopath. She'd kill someone for looking at her the wrong way. SHEP LETS GO DO PIRACY SO WE CAN KILL MUTHA****S AND LOOT THEIR CORPSES. Yea. Totally justified murder.

Shepard: I can't let you do that Mordin
Mordin: I made a mistake! Can't let Krogan go extinct because of my mistake. Won't commit genocide.
Shepard: lol, you mad *shoots Mordin*
- Actual renegade option
Shepard: Guess I'll shoot the red thing then
EDI: *dead*
Geth: *dead*
Shepard: lol, you mad bro? Genocide is awesome.
Yeah "justified".

Yes. Tali has arguably the most devoted following of Mass Effect fans, because of personality, beliefs, etc I mean, you don't even know what she looked like in the first two games, and fans ate her up. Miranda, however, has a great set of hooters and a great butt. Those are the things the casual gamer notices right away. I'm not implying their shallow, it's just guys being guys. I started with ME2, and I sure as hell noticed Miranda first. I stuck with Tali, but Miranda was the one that grabbed my attention before I knew either of their personalities

Number 2.... you know I have to say Chakwas had about as much personality as a cardboard cutout, and this is the writers fault. More could have been done. This is the ship's doctor. I'd think she'd have been able to give some more advice on Shepard's mental condition periodically.

Implying that everyone who joins cerberus has issues.
Also as male shepard you only have to do Mirandas loyalty mission and shes all over you, for a woman who claims to dislike you she was pretty quick to change her tune.
On liaras mother/father, i never suspected when on illium she said she had a child with another asari that it meant liara. Until i saw her on the citadel.

Shep isn't killing for ****s and giggles. In all likelyhood, curing the genophage IS a huge mistake. Wrex is the only trustworthy krogan you encounter. Char seems pretty legit too, but he's dead and insignificant. Theres a difference between killing for the hell of it and killing for what one believe to be the greater good. Jack is in the first category, Shep (with maybe one optional exception) is in the second.

Disconnect a toaster from its energy supply - it stops functioning until it is plugged in again.
Disconnect an organic from its energy supply and it stops functioning permanently.
Did you have a point?
What makes it so different if your toaster was sentient?

Yes, it almost seems like Miranda wants to be that strong, tough, untouchable woman she appears to be at first, but she simply isn't and fails at that. While Liara just always stays true and loyal to herself and makes progress, just out of her own strength, while Miranda, if she does any progress at all, needs Shepards help for that.

Miranda was immediately noticable but it really didn't work for me because her body was just so over the top. Quite honestly Tali's figure is much more appealing (even with the odd hands, feet, and legs, hell, because of them to a certain degree) and her personality infinitely so.goose2989 wrote...

Other than him, Liara is quite annoying, and the writers are forcing her on to you, almost as much as the star child. At least you can kick Diana Allers off the ship.

MIRANDA, just a horrible contrived character. I can't stand her and was incredibly surprised when I came back to the forums to find fans who not only liked her, but obsessed over her. I really can't wrap my head around it.

She spends to much time trying to live up to her genetic engineering; while the issue of genetic enhancement is interesting, her 1 track record isnt. Which i think is why Liara is so selectly appealing to different people, she has an air of mysticism that sometimes comes across as innocence or inexperience - to some people this may seem boring. However If you actively seek out her dialogue even if not the love interest her character growth always has the chance to surprise you.
