So how about it guys? Maybe add this dialog via DLC along with Kolyat Krios as our new Drell Companion? He could go in the Life Support Room where his father once was. That room has to be there for a reason you guys and that part of the ship never had anyone there the whole game except some model ship. Bioware has to be planning something or someone to take over the reins there via DLC and Kolyat would be a no brainer choice.
Kolyat Krios - My mother and my father are gone, after laying my father to rest I would like to join you in your fight against the reapers!!!

Kolyat really would be the "no brainer" choice... as in, why would a Shepard with a brain want him on her ship? From a functional standpoint, he'd be pretty useless: he's not a trained assassin like his father. He doesn't even have a tiny fraction of the skills Thane has. From a personal standpoint, why would a Shepard who respected Thane want to bring his son along? Every single bit of dialogue from Thane about his son in ME2 revolved around Thane not wanting his son to follow in his footsteps on such a bloody path. He wanted peace and normalcy for his son, and he wouldn't appreciate Shepard ignoring all of that just for the lulz of dragging along an untrained boy on a critical mission.

I'm sorry but no. Kolyat going into any kind of business that involves killing things is the exact opposite of what Thane wanted.
Also, Kolyat wouldn't really be very useful (Sorry Kolyat). He wasn't the one who trained since he was six. He couldn't even manage a single assassination (Thankfully) without getting stopped/caught.

Ok I understand you Kolyat reasoning but who would you guys like to see take up quarters in the vacant life support room if anyone at all? Kind of pointless for Bioware to have all this room onboard if they did not have something or someone up their sleeves to fill the spots later on, who would be a more realistic choice?

I have an even better idea. How about dlc that keeps Thane alive? We can stick him right back in Life Support.

Ummm, No. My Shep loved and respected Thane above all others so the very last thing she would ever do is put a gun in the hands of his son and ask him to kill. It goes against everything Thane wanted Shep to help him stop Kolyat from doing. He's welcome aboard my ship to lounge around eating cheetos but that's as far as it goes for me. Besides, did you see Kolyat's lack of shooting skills against a Krogan (pretty big target) that was within feet of him? A good shot, he is not.
Who would I like to see in Life Support....Thane. Anyone else won't get downloaded or bought on my end. I already cry enough just knowing it's empty, imagine the rage and angst I'd be going through seeing someone else sit in his chair? Oh the pain....
Life Support should look like this:

Everyone else has already covered why Kolyat joining the crew would be a bad idea.
That being said, I will throw my money at BioWare for a 'Cure Thane' DLC.

Thane in Life Support, and Kolyat can lounge in Kasumi's Bar n' Grill......if he needs a day job, he can always help out Chakwas in Medical.....I'm sure there are things to organize, files to be tended to, Bromo to be stocked......

You kidding? Kolyat barely knows which end of the gun goes toward the enemy.

I'd like the option to check-up on both Kolyat and Mouse after Thane dies, whether or not you romanced Thane, but, yeah, taking him aboard the Normandy seems a bit disrespectful to his father.
Though regarding putting a gun into his hands; it's actually my personal canon that if Kolyat is alive and wasn't arrested he's enrolled at CSec Academy these days.

And then he dies on the first mission.
Shepard: Why did I choose him again?

i'm fine with taking kolyat on board, helping the crew with technical stuff or something like this, but i would also think, that it is unrespectfull towards thane, if his son becomes a squad mate (than i will pick up feron, if i has to), but i would like to have some conversation or email from him after thanes death
(by the way, i'm absolutly supporting "the cure dlc") but i just found it sad to hear nothing from him again. i think that kolyat is quite clever and i cannot believe, that he did not notice what was there between his father and my shepard, but he never mentioned it with a single word. That's a pitty. they could helped each other through the pain of his death.
