If EA closes down Bioware, they aren't going to keep the people in their basement or back room 'Misery' style. The driven employees will group together and sign onto a new studio... maybe Bethesda, or Epic... or they might just form a brand NEW studio and start from scratch -- heck they might give it a hilarious, punk-rock name like... Gamma/Explosion, or EndingHue Games, or 3-Shade Palette Softworks.

Change is not necessarily a bad thing, and while I'm sure they'll miss the EA money... They could rise higher than ever before.

But, EA closing down Bioware? Not gonna happen -- even with all the bumps in the road, Bioware is still too highly recognizable of a brand, with huge followers. EA will not risk losing THAT!

Westwood my friend. Westwood.

:(:(:(

This is the most inane threads on these boards. Bioware is a lucrative and profitable studio under the EA brand, all their games are a goldmine whether they are critically a success or not. EA is a business first and they want to see high profit margins. Why would shutting down one of their most profitable studios make any sense?

Game developers rise, evolve, advance. And at the apex of their glory, they are extinguished. BioWare is not the first

On the one hand, I'd finally be able to start that floral design shop and solve crimes in my off-hours with my wisecracking sidekick.

On the other hand, I'd be laid off. So I'm going to go with 'no, I wouldn't be satisfied'.

Could I be your sidekick :D ?

POP QUIZ: If a building exploded, what would you do?

check for explosive chemical traces like Nitrogen and oil. check for survivors after hosing down the building.

You're going a little too CSI. I'm more of a 'Burn Notice' type.

In that case, after the building explodes eat yogurt.

No I wouldnt.

I would not be sad about it, because recently BioWare has not made any games I realy liked, and I am honest enough not to be sad about the problems of strangers.

But even so, people losing their jobs is no reason for joy, imo.

Just out of curiousity but what is the current status of the video game industry? I would think it's currently doing pretty well despite the economy. Even if Bioware gets closed down, given their history, it shouldn't be too hard for the employees to find new jobs in other developers, right? Right?
