It's because of viewpoints like this that marketing is allowed to do everything up to, and sometimes including, lying.

I'm willing to bet that this advertising pitch was made by someone in EA. Although this does not remove the fault from Bioware for agreeing to throw up this advertisement.

Yeah, this is marketing, although underhanded and shrewd marketing. Yeah, this isn't the first time any company hasn't pulled bad PR but, then again, this isn't the first time the consumers haven't complained either.

And, like any company that sells a product that sours the consumers, the power then lies with them to keep the company afloat.

Whether everyone agrees that Bioware should stay afloat or not, both EA and especially Bioware (because EA will use them as their shield) will take hits in their sales because they alienated so many fans.

I personally think Bioware should cut ties with EA altogether. People have their disagreements about whether or not Bioware should stay afloat, I happen to disagree with the sentiment that Bioware should crash and burn, but I do REALLY think that Bioware should throw EA out of their proverbial house and lock the damn door. EA is nothing but a cancer in the gaming industry.
