your post content is accurate, this is the attitude EA and bioware deem worthy to deal with their consumers, though i don't agree with the title.

it's like what a poster above said, they think they don't need their fanbase, but then who buys your games if not your fans/consumers?

that line about the 75 perfect scores pissed me off in the blog post too, the context it was put in made me come to the same conclusion as the OP.

"........They are trying to sell a game, dude...
Of course they are going to put a positive spin on everything..."-Bill Casey

So that makes it ok to decive and spin.

So this would be ok then:

"Ciggaretes have been one of the most researched and tested products in the field of health over the past 70 years"

So putting a positive spin on something to the point where it becomes a lie is ok....

Yes we have dismissed this claim.

Wow, talk about tricking people in to buying your stuff... It's like Bioware/EA are like con-artists. Except they con people legally.

Bioware doesn't need to die.

BIOWARE IS NOT TO BLAME

Bioware is under a stranglehold of the cold gauntlet and collar that is EA.

EA makes them rush product, so it can meet ETA's and help fiscal months.

EA has a strangle-hold on bioware now, and it's too late.

You guys are so cute, playing right into their hands like this.

This is the controversy selling point, you make it look like your work is causing a massive spaz attack with some people, and that gets people interested in seeing just what's so bad about this thing.

Like how whenever a conservative goes on camera and ****es about a movie and than tries to forbid people from seeing it, and than the sales of said film skyrocket from curiosity and a need to defy others.

So congratulations, you guys now know how right wing parents feel when they tell people not to see that new violent film because it has sex and violence in it, and everyone goes to see it anyway.

EDIT: and fyi, many entertainers would pay to have the word of mouth effect you guys are having, remeber that old saying, there is no such thing as bad publicity, or as it's known if france, succès de scandale.

Welcome to the world of advertising. I suppose you believe your shampoo does what it claims to do.

No but I doubt my shampoo will try to spin something like, the possibility of an allegeric reaction by saying,

" some people are saying that nothing has created a greater reaction to their scalp then clean and clear shampoo"

Theirs a point where it becomes deciteful and a thinly vieled lie rather then advertising.

I don't know if they DESERVE (as a company) to die off. But I do know that they handled this whole situation very very poorly.

Yeah, I don't quite agree that they deserve to die as a company, but if in some strange alternate universe it was announced on Monday that due to unforseen circumstances, Bioware went bankrupt and had to be dissolved, at this very moment (having finished my one, and most definitely ONLY) playthrough of Mass Effect 3 (and my last playthrough of any of ME 1, 2 or 3), I would feel happy.

I am not GLAD that I would feel happy, but I would.

Bioware is a company that I have loved since Baldur's Gate.  To my knowledge, I have purchased every game they've released since then, along with all DLC for all of them.  Those games would be:

Baldur's Gate (I don't remember if there's an expansion - I don't so - I can only find the 5 disc huge disc holder)
The Baldur's Gate II Collection (includes Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal)
Neverwinter Nights Gold (has Shadows of Undrentide)
Hordes of the Underdark
Knights of the Old Republic
Jade Empire Special Edition for PC
Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3
Dragon Age
Dragon Age: Awakening
Dragon Age 2
The Old Republic MMO

The story parts of ME2, ME 3 and DA 2, IMO, have undergone a noticable decline compared to all games (bar the NWN OC) that came before them.  Coincidence that those are the ones released after the EA aquisition?  I'm not sure.  ME 2, 3 and DA 2 are most definitely more gameplay oriented, and less RPG oriented - basically they are "fun to play", but not necessarily "fun to experience", if you get my meaning.

I know it's emotional of me (as I finished ME 3 just a few hours ago), but at this moment I'm of the mindest that Bioware will simply never see another dime of my money.  Seriously, I felt the ending of ME 3 was a big "F**k You for caring for 5 years!" when I experienced it.

That EA/Bioware email image is just icing on the cake of sh*t.  But it's not made of icing.

why is this thread rated 5 stars? yes, bioware handled the endings pretty badly, and honestly, for me, they no longer have the benefit of the doubt when it comes to game development..

but saying that they deserve to go under and 'be forgotten' is a bit melodramatic dont you think?

what about companies like monsanto and wal-mart? THOSE are companies that deserve to go under and be forgotten. not a VIDEO GAME company like bioware.

I laughed hard at the thread title.
Also, maybe we should call them "The Artists formerly known as Bioware" from now on.

Not really surprising, PR ("Public Relations") is just propaganda renamed. Moral, ethical and truthful have nothing to do with it.

Can't agree with the OP's sentiment. Bioware, I didn't like the ME3 ending, but I hope you guys are able to return to your earlier form, hit a home-run with the Extended Cut, and go on to make fantastic games like you used to do so well. You've got your work cut out for you, IMO.

What happened to the 'buyer beware' axiom? When the shampoo claims to provoke a reaction in many people, the rational thing is to find out what that reaction is, rather than think "it must be amazing then" and rush off to buy a carton full of Shampoo bottles.

We all knew what EA would eventually do to Bioware. It's just hard to accept.

Whether it'll be a good extended DLC or not... I am not going to trust Bioware and its hype talk anymore.

Its not Bioware, its EA
"This PR has brought us pain, suffering and loss. But it has also brought us together as consumers, campaigners, and fans. This bond that ties us together is something EA will never understand. Its more powerful than any false advertisement, stronger than any critic. It can't be taken or destroyed.

The next few weeks will determine the fate of every ME fan in the world. Every male shep, every femshep, every unborn ME fan. They're trusting you, depending on you to win them their future. A future free from the threat of EA. But take heart, look around you. You're not in this fight alone. We face this enemy together, and together we will defeat them!"

Lets go! *locks up wallet, and grabs a Saber*
