Has anyone here played Hydrophobia? It's not an RPG, but it's yet another game that was changed because of fan feedback, and the setup looked interesting. Also, $5 on Steam.

Yeah, I played it. It was alright. The shooting mechanics had problems but I loved the water mechanics. Plus the guys behind it proved they know how to accept feedback (proof)

Overall I was glad to support them when I bought it for Xbox. It can be had for cheaper on Steam now though.

Wow, look at all the improvements they made. I feel like buying it just because they listened to their fans!

List of Female Protagonists Games

That is quite an interesting list there. Tells much about how vastly different female protagonists are depicted and written throughout the the different decades and genres. It's not complete though. The DA games are missing.

As a fan of deep and engaging storytelling and a relatable protagonist, I think I'll check out the Barbie and the Mary-Kate and Ashley series. They look promising. ^_^

It's kind of sad though, that the Bioware division of Electronic Arts has spoiled me by setting the standards of what I expect of a good game. Alternative titles from other companies, although I can enjoy them, often lack some thing or the other. Be it the import feature, the female protagonist or well written characters. Damn you Bioware for having done so many things right in the past.:crying:

I was not able to play Mass Effect 3 again until today after finishing it. I do not plan to ever play it again.

So I finally played Fallout 3, a game, I wanted to play for a long, long time. Just finished it yesterday.

Now I will play Witcher 2 for the next weeks, before I plan to play Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii (have it already since a few months, but was engaged with other games like Skyrim, Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Seriously! I really hope some other developers have noticed that there's now a MASSIVE GAP IN THE MARKET.

Pretty much. It was hell trying to find reviews for the new version though. I'd been intrigued by the concept but all the launch reviews were negative yet I heard about the Update and I had a hard time (at the time) finding reliable new reviews.

I can say it's fun enough. You really get something out of it if you manipulate the water around you as, like I said, the shooting mechanics are flawed (been a while since I played it so I can't be more specific). Platforming is fun though.

Play Dragon Age Origins: Gather all races of the Land to fight an powerful ancient force. Where have I heard that line before?

I am currently playing it, remembering why I loved morrigan and alistar. Best thing it ends how I want it to.

If you like JRPGs Xenoblade Chronicles (No relation to Xenogears or the Xenosaga trilogy) just came out for the Wii. It came out like 5 years ago in Japan so it shows its age but simply put this is the game FF12 should have been.

Edit: Just realized you said "for the PC" so nevermind.

I suggest you get Dark Souls when it comes out on PC. I too was so put off by the ending of ME3 I went out and bought Dark Souls for the Ps3 and its an amazing game. It isn't a story driven Rpg like a BioWare game but more of a hardcore Rpg that really reminds me of table top pen and paper Rpgs since you can really tell your own story.

The new Tomb Raider looks hot. *Ahem*

Also anyone who plays StarCraft 2 should play the user map Night of the Dead.

OK, so I still can't bear to play ME at all. (See, I'm on topic!)

I've been playing Portal a bit but I really miss my RPGs. Anyone have any suggestions for non-Bioware RPGs for PC (or Mac)? My only requirements are: a female protagonist (no Witcher for me, I'll play it modded if I get desperate), decent story and decent characters.

Anyone? I've only recently got back into gaming after a very long hiatus, so chances are I won't have played anything you can think of.

Skyrim
KIngdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Mafia 2 has a male protagonist but it is such a good game I think you should check it out.

For TW2, you might as well wait until the 17th and download the added content for the enhanced edition. Or wait until that date and buy the Enhanced Edition, if you don't have the game already.

I can't edit ny above post but to add another example of developers listening to fans. Dark Souls is being ported to the PC because fans started a petition on FROM Software's forums requesting them to do it. The response FROM Software gave was to announce they would immediately get to work on a PC port.

You should try Dragon Age: Origins if you haven't already, it's like ME1 but with elves and magic instead of aliens and biotics. I'm in the middle of playing Deus Ex:HR and it's pretty fun, though like most games you play as a dude. I'm having a hard time finding new RPGs to play because most are in the fantasy/medieval genre and I much prefer modern/sci-fi games. I've heard SWTOR is good so you should check that out if you like MMORPGS.

Too bad the makers of Terraria have moved on.  It's not at all an rpg, but it is loads of fun.

Also, I recomend Fallout NV with mods; that and Diablo 2 are holding me over till summer dlc comes out.  Hopefuly Mass Effect series will be playable then.

RPG-wise I've got nothing new to mention but if you want games that are primarily about the story:

Dear Esther, To the Moon, Amnesia and Stanley's Parable (a free mod for Valve's Source engine) are all really good examples of indie developers pushing the boundaries of storytelling in games.

well on tuesday - I will happily be skipping my way to my local gamestop and picking the Witcher 2, in the Mean time.. I have starting playing  Bastion - great little action-RPG.

We have Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2 coming, Fallout New Vegas which just got its ultimate edition, Darksiders 2, Prey 2 and Bioshock Infinite, Assassins Creed 3, Resident Evil 6. For my viewing pleasure I have been watching some good ole Gundam - just finished 00 and now I'm watching Seed.
