it offers tons of replayability and it is quite lengthy too.
There is NO other game like Deus ex human revolution.

Anyway, my list:
Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, Fallout New Vegas.
Good games, but there are no squadmates therefore no friendship/romance and character driven emotions.

OK, so I still can't bear to play ME at all. (See, I'm on topic!)
I've been playing Portal a bit but I really miss my RPGs. Anyone have any suggestions for non-Bioware RPGs for PC (or Mac)? My only requirements are: a female protagonist (no Witcher for me, I'll play it modded if I get desperate), decent story and decent characters.
Anyone? I've only recently got back into gaming after a very long hiatus, so chances are I won't have played anything you can think of.

Bioware could learn a lot from that this question is being asked all over the place. With such a sh*tty ending ruining all enjoyment of the series, people are looking for somewhere else to spend their time. No one could have ever likely made inroads to bioware's customer base without bioware dropping th ball massively, like they did here.
Consensus seems to be the Witcher series, especially 2. You're going to see traffic on these forums drop off a lot when it comes out on the 360 soon.

Get over yourself and play The Witcher anyway! It's a damn good series! Why would you withold such an amazing series just because you can't play female?

Play Dragon Age Origins: Gather all races of the Land to fight an powerful ancient force. Where have I heard that line before?
I am currently playing it, remembering why I loved morrigan and alistar. Best thing it ends how I want it to.

Well, I can't answer for the OP, but for myself, it's because it's all but impossible for me to have any kind of connection to a male protagonist (and I get terribly tired of them being everywhere - if there were a more even distribution that part wouldn't be an issue).
So, for a game like Assassin's Creed or something, I sometimes play them, and enjoy them, but even those kinds are dampened for me if I can't play a female character - in an RPG, where connecting with the character is extremely important, it usually reduces the game from "experience the story!" to "play the combat!" for me...and I'm not super interested in playing just the combat portion of most RPGs.

That doesn't make sense. So you can't enjoy a good movie if the protagonist is a male? You can't enjoy a good book if the protagonist is a male?
So basically, you only play Tomb Raider, a few RPGs and Final Fantasy X2? Because almost every single other game has a male protagonist. You just skip them all because you can't play female? You're not really a true gamer, are you?
The Witcher 2 is much more than just an RPG. The Witcher 2 is the pinnacle of storytelling in video-games. It puts BioWare's storytelling skills to shame.
The reason why you can't play a female in The Witcher, is because you play Geralt, a character from the witcher books. You don't get to make a character in The Witcher 2, you're Geralt, with Geralt's background and Geralt's personality. But trust me, Geralt is a very deep, mature and well-developed character. You'll truly synpathize with him, even if you're a female yourself. There are also plenty of interesting and strong female characters in The Witcher 2 that will help Geralt in his adventure. All females in The Witcher are strong and capable women who can take care of themselves. Triss, Ves and Saskia are good examples of powerful women that will help Geralt a lot.

I'm currently playing Witcher in anticipation of Witcher 2, but I just can't seem to take the characters too seriously. The VA is just plain godawful. Mind you, I'm only on the second part.. and I am, admittedly, getting more interested. I think it's just the typical reaction I have when trying to get into a new story. I have confidence that I'll be really into the lore and story once I get going a bit more.
