THey never were really that important to begin with. Just a simple side story in a made up story.

Go ahead and extend that to the Genophage, the geth/quarian conflict, the Protheans, and pretty much everything not having to do with the Reapers, then.

Please, don't make a post like that ever again.

I enjoyed Kaidan and Liaras romance in ME3 alot, more then in ME and more then any of the ME2 romances. So nope, didn't feel like a step back for me. Plus Liara's romance scene? <3

So glad for you (no sarcasm).  I just wish some of the others got the same treatment.

Yes. In the previous games, it really felt as if my Shepard was building relationship and making strong bonds with friends and lovers. This time around all it takes is not to be a complete douche and drop a "Shall we bump uglies?" after Udina's Coup. One could argue that at least 2 of the long term LI's (Liara, Kaidan/Ash) were built up over 3 years (3 games), but then I managed to get Liara to drop trou while actively pursuing Kaidan and Traynor and not dropping a word of encouragement to her. Maybe she loved me all along. It all came down to who I had dinner (or shower) with first.

When it comes to LI, they took a huge step back from ME. I much prefer the build-up there, in KotOR and DAO. The near on ninjamancing reminds me strongly of Jade Empire where Wu the Lotus Blossom spent loads of time buttering up Zu only to find herself in an ongoing deep and meningful relationship with Sky when they arrived to the capital.

I don't understand where a lot of this is coming from. There was more romance content in ME3 than there was in ME2. I pretty much got at least one line acknowledging my romance in every conversation with my LI; even some during missions and not just on the Normandy. In ME2 all I got was two conversations and a cabin scene; this is in no way a step back from that.

Exceptions to this are those who romanced ME2-exclusive characters, of course. I'm not denying it was a step back for them.

What's so stupid is A LOT of people totally dig Miranda. I mean, for them to COMPLETELY shaft that romance is just...wow. What a bunch of idiots.

Did they allocate resources based on fanbase size though? Seems more like they just made a conscious decision to prioritize the ME1 characters.

Not sure if serious.....

Super serious.

I'm thinking they had a finite amount of resources, ran out of time, and prioritized giving squaddies content over non-squaddies. Which seems like it would be the standard procedure.

Totally possible.

But come on. They ran out of time and resources for the romances, to give us a proper ending, to give us closure, to show us our war assests in the final fight, to not make every mission a "fetch quest"...I mean it's possible. But damn they had enough time to NOT **** this stuff up.

and they had the time and resources for MP and day one dlc.

EXACTLY. :sick::sick::sick:

Well, those are moneymakers.

Honestly, I wish they'd sat on the game for at least another six months. It tastes undercooked.

I think they missed an opportunity by not doing more with the email system. I know emails leave a lot to be desired, but how hard would of been for BioWare to add an A,B or C reply to emails? I think it would of helped quite a bit considering how bare some of the romances are for content.

They made too many romances, and some fans paid the price of BioWare's failure to properly plan for budgeting that part of the game. Too much fanservice. I still don't know how there are like a zillion romances and straight femshep is stuck with Kaidan as her only human male option.

I think Normandy crew got their due. But the rest really got shafted.

Hey I'm not saying what Bioware did to the other LIs was good, it's not. The ME2 romancers should have gotten the same treatment and enjoyment alot of Liara, Garrus(from what I have heard, did not romance him and won't) Kaidan and Ash(thoguh some fans are at an impass because her friendship sucked) had. I do think like Ash Thane should have had three conversations at the hospital, if you roamnced him each convo was pure romance centric that built up and his bed scene was ALOT diffrent for the romancers. Jacob romancers should have never got screwed and Jack and Miranda should have had better roles then they got.

People play the games for different reasons. I enjoy some of the romance stuff in my playthroughs but this guy does have a point. It's not like the romances are inextricably woven into the story. They could all easily be lifted out without affecting the main plot. That's something BioWare should've done better but you can see why they didn't. So many different romances  = a big challenge to weave all of them neatly into the plot. They made them all easy to lift out instead -- much simpler to write that way.

I felt I spent more time with Liara than my actual LI...

I'm not saying they should cut that out. The time capsule was actually one of my favourite parts of the game. But there was very little getting to know the other characters. You spent some time with them but you didn't really share anything like memories, worries about the future, reflections on feelings for each other--and the writers are totally capable of that! Seriously, the time capsule was gold, and due in no small part to Sam Hulick.

I want to blame it on deadlines. It's the ending of a trilogy with all these cumulative choices, and you don't even give it three years? They cut out Javik from the main game due to time constraints, I can't imagine what else they had to cut out...

Sorry, Thane was practically ignored and was literally forgotten about, so I don't understand how he would be an exception to this....

I agree that giving Thane three conversations to match up with the three the VS gets in the hospital would be a major improvement. Being a Thanemancer and having to, several times, run straight past Thane (who had no new dialogue) to get to the new dialogue scenes for Ashley? MAJORLY awkward and a bit of a characterisation-breaking moment for me, having Shep just blank him like that.

I'm not clear on what the situation is with Jack at the moment. Am I right in thinking that Jack only actually gets the Grissom mission (which we all got), the Purgatory scene (ditto) and then the holo at the end? Do Jackmancers at least get some kind of extended version of the Purgatory scene with her? It was awesome for me, but I WASN'T romancing her. I kind of assumed that if you were romancing her that scene would end up with sincere talking and/or drinking and/or sex scene. I'm guessing that's not the case, since I've several posts referencing her, Jacob and Thane as the most hard done by?

I just did a complete re-run through the series, ME1 included. When I saw how cheeser the romance lines were in that game compared to ME3, I felt better about how the romances were handled. (At least the ME1 romances. ME2 romances, yes, really seem to have been screwed over.)

You also know that a suit puncture on Tali could result in deadly consequences. How'd that go for ya? :)

I was aware of that, but the amount of quality interactions with him was meagre, to put it generously.

Yep that's my point.  Tali can take off her whole suit with the side effects being a bad cold, depsite your "KNOWING" that it should be deadly.

But Thanemancers should "KNOW" that Thane was dying and deal with it.

Tali and Garrus are fan service romances. They get to bend the rules to whatever appeals the masses.
