He only says that when she turns him down. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, or maybe I just don't like Jacob enough to give him the benefit of doubt, but it seemed like he said it just to get into her pants.

But tbh that scene felt out of place. The best scene in Jacob's romance was the second conversation, I think, when he asked her how she felt. I honestly liked it. There was some good material, too bad they threw it out the window.

Brynn even tells FemShep that Jacob still loves her, one of the many happy points in the Jacob ME3-romance.....

I saw that scene on youtube. I'm not even a Jacobmancer but I had a sudden urge of booting DA2 and have Fem!Hawke horribly killed.

No one has to like Jacob, and there is where the roleplaying comes in. I always felt it was more of a "Not right now, we have this stressful mission at the moment" when she turns him away. With Jacob sweeping her of her feet afterwards with a really nice convo. That is great, we are supposed to roleplay after all.

I am just wondering what happened, and I really do not like how they built the mission. I think it's ok as a friend of Jacob, but doing that mission with a romanced FemShep is a complete disconnect which is so sad, his convo's were some of the best for me rp-wise in ME2. I got used to feeling that I could really be my Shepard when talking to him. Oh well... With a little luck it won't me my LI next time they do something this interesting and then I'll get the popcorn and watch as the tragedy unfolds/hilarity ensues.

I don't think I'll be handing my money over for their 'next time'  unless they fix the mess that is the Jacob and Thane romances, I think that the ending of romances in RP games should always be down to the player,  BW shouldn't be messing with the players stories in such clumsy ways it was stupid and unnecessary and unforgivable without a fix.

Personally, I couldn't really care less about Thane (cool as a character, terrible as an LI), but that's just me. I think that Jacob's story should have been different if Shep had romanced him. I had to have a laugh at BW claiming artistic integrity when the only reason they 'widened' Kaidan's preferences was because of fan pressure (enough for Kaidan, thankfully not enough for Ashley). Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how things turned out (still want Ashley's deleted content added back in though.)

All they did was make Kaidan the way he was prior to ME1's launch. He was bisexual originally.

I think that there should be a rewarding element to the player in each romance-arc. There is nothing inherently bad about a character moving on in case it is well in conversations and such. But there should be something good about putting in time to romance a char.

Getting dumped gives you sad feelings, they make us feel sad when we play through this. That is well, we are supposed to feel things. But then, they should let us do something with these emotions. And there should be an upside to pursuing a romance-arc. It doesn't have to be a "sex-scene", rather you should be rewarded by getting to see something that no one else get's to see.

It would have been wonderful if a dumped FemShep got extra convos with her friends. Warning for incoming really bad dialouge.

Tali, FemShep dumped by Jacob, towards the end of the game:
Tali: Shepard, nice to see you have time to come down here even with the Galaxy burning up
FemShep: Well, have to at least act as a resposible Captain, don't I.
Tali: *laugh*, I like your acting then Shepard. But, really Shepard. How are you? There hasn't been time to ask before, but I am here.
FemShep chooses the"Not so great"-option: I have been better. *looks up at Tali* But I have friends, and people who trust me and depend on me. I'll get by.. somehow".
Tali: Yes you will, Shepard. I have Rannoch now, because of you. And Garrus. I just wish... I just want to do as much for you as you have done for me"
FemShep: "You already have"
*friendly we-girls-can-make-it-hug*

Hope less than stellar dialouge didn't distract you from what I'm aiming for. I just think that there should be an upside to getting dumped by Jacob. Perhaps getting an extra convo with Garrus discussing the loss of faith in oneself. How he got over the incident on Omega, how FemShep can move on after Jacob. You should get to see something rewarding for every romance-arc, something someone else doesnt' get. Have never played BroShep so I haven't gotten to know Ash, Miranda or Jack better. I'm missing out.

It could have been a good bitter-sweet experience. Bitter by getting dumped, but made sweet by getting something no one else get's from our companions. As it is now, it is only bitter.

I feel that way about Ashley, but I care that she was missing in ME2 and could have been better in ME3....

Tali's romance was way better in ME3 if only because Shepard never says "Captain's orders."

Ugh that was awful!

Oh? You found the lifeless and impersonal twenty second pre Cerberus base scene better? And lets not forget that "Photo," we received. Really, a hand full of squad banter doesn't make me feel attached; actual conversations with actual depth do.

Combine that with the insulting treatment of Jacob and Thane, and in short OP, yes, it was a staggering step backward. Unless your name is Liara.

That scene was far from lifeless and impersonal. And the writing for Tali on Rannoch surpasses anything in ME2.

Compared to the Garrus one? Which, mind you, is almost the exact same scene, but better written, and is longer. Really, Tali's scene felt so generic and cliché that I just couldn't be interested, and the scene afterward? My Shep's parting lines are "Thanks," and he then buggers off, leaving Tali behind. No ability to actually inject any personality or empathy at all. No chance to actually feel like my Shepard and Tali had an actual relationship. Its like Bioware danced around all the times where there WAS actual development, and left us players only the sex scene in the end; which wasn't even a sex scene, hell, it was less intimate than the one we got in ME2.

The "Rekindle," scene was just as bad; I call her up, we chat about her becoming an Admiral, then BANG, "Do you still love me?" "Yes." "Oh cool, but we can't be too obvious." And that's about it; the entire exchange lasts for about three minutes, and ends with "Still totally worth it." Which was the only line that actually meant anything to me, and even then, it was a slight laugh.

ME3's value (What little it has for me.) is almost entirely pulled from ME1 and ME2. Is that a good thing? In a way, it IS a part of a trilogy, so the emotional attachements we formed in the two previous titles should carry over into the final act, however; when I feel as though ALL of my emotional attachment is drawn from the two previous entries, that is not good at all. ME3 fails to stand on its own for me, in terms of empathy and character.

And most of her dialogue on Rannoch is squad banter, which, like I said; isn't enough for me to feel engaged. Don't get me wrong; I liked some of the lines given "Tell again if its too quiet for you to sleep," it was playful, and a direct reference to ME1, but it was still a collection of one-liners with no ability to probe deeper.

In the end; ME3 had the most shallow and unbalanced Romances I've seen in a long time. I had more fun with Dragon Quest's romances than I did here.

I haven't seen Garrus's scene, but the Tali scene was succinct and got the point across for me.

Rannoch is much more than squad banter; now you just aren't being fair! How about Tali telling Shepard she loves him right before he faces the Reaper down, and him responding "Kee'lah se'lai?" Or what about Shepard admitting he doesn't want to ask Tali to come with him because he thinks it's selfish and wants her to stay with her people, and her response is basically, "Freaking duh I'm coming with you!" It's a great scene.

well, if that's what you think. but being the final game in the series more could've been done with the dialogues and coversations. i think that the writing was a bit shallow in some cases, but slightly better in others. it's not how i imagined lovers would act when on a mission to save a galaxy. in alot of cases it was very passive.

the rannoch scene had more potential in it, even if you think it was great. it was the scene where shepard had done just about everything he could've ever done for tali, bar get her pregnant. made peace with the geth and saved her people from them, got the geth to let the quarians live on rannoch, the place where her father promised to build her a house.

i guess it's down to perspective and taste really. different people would see things differently and would want different things is all. but i'm posting in this thread because i'm not satisfied with the romances.

It certainly did feel like the... ENDING... of the relationship arcs all took a big step back...

It sure feels that a large number of people are upset of the writing of the... ENDING... for these relationships...
