is it possible to get this achievement without siding wiht templars???
I wouldn't want anders to die at some point if I let him go or ask him to join.
I saw a youtube that templars bowed and some mages are spared.:?

No, you can't get it if you don't side with the Tempars.

You can get Anders to side with the templars if you are at full rivalry and have chosen the right dialogue options... but he'll kill himself in the epilogue, so you'd better be sure that's what you want to do.

All that is needed to become viscount is to side with the templars at the end, if that's your thing. You will have the option of sparing some apprentice mages and Bethany, but at that point, you'll have already killed a lot of innocent mages, so whether that concession rings hollow is up to you. Personally, I can't.

your right, I agree... I can't and watch hindly by when magers are force into a corner... I seen that you spare a few mages in the templar seen but it doesn't fit. my anders is 100% friend and he desides to defend the mages he is one of my favorite character since awakening which I love that expansion so much. I just wanted the achievement or atleast become Vicount with the mages on your side....

Glad I read this....I was curious about that myself. I'm also curious to see if this thread will turn into yet another Mage/Templar debate, because I'm not sure there are quite enough of those.

I just finished my designated evil playthrough. It;'s weird. I have no issue being an evil bastard in fallout or oblivion (hell in oblivion I stole the adoring fan's soul, make a self flame enchanted ring out of it and reverse pickpocketed it onto an unkillable npc so he burns for all eternity) but in bioware games I hate being mean. I guess its because it feels like real people I'm harming.

I was pleasantly surprised that the option exists to do a pro templar playthrough without being an evil bastard and you can play hawke (up until the crisis point) as someone who thinks the circle is for the best. but I'm never siding with meredith in the endgame again unless da3 lets me have someone kill hawke for being such a bastard.

I can't side with the templars without feeling like a bad guy, so I only did that on one playthrough. It might have been easier if Hawke didn't have a father and sister who were mages.

Even if Hawke becomes Viscount, they still disappear, which takes the fun out of that ending.
