 I am sick of starting SIlver/Gold games and people with their mic's turned off join them. No way are we ever going to complete a gold/silver game without communication, turn it on, there is no excuse.

I have taken to going back to lobby if a player tries to join with no mic or a level -10 level player on silver/gold.

Am I right?

Ok, to all you douches who keep saying you dont need it... I know it might not be nessasary but it would sure as hell make the game better,

 It's a team game afterall, now stop trolling my post.

So you don't wish your team would tell you that a cloaked hunter or Phantom is lurking round a corner when you go to revive them? rather then you die too? You'd rather waste your rocket ammo because someone else fires a rocket at the same time, wasting it... Sorry but playing a team game WITHOUT a mic is stupid, pointless and annoying for everyone else. I rest my case.

Call me an idiot, a douche bag or an angry person if you like, but you can't justify it. An xbox headset cost like £5.

Headsets are only needed for gold. If you need to communicate on Silver just get somemore practice in. Its not hard.

Sadly for my PC I have no mic, but if I had one I would turn it on

I do silver and gold all the time on completely silent teams. On PC, at least, part of the problem is that the game doesn't recognize mics well at all. My headset doesn't even keep the mic active long enough to say anything, I have to use my webcams mic and it has to be held near my mouth even then.

The voice chat in this game is truly awful.

i leave my mic off, last time it was on i got in an argument with a bunch of people because they said that the widow was better than my javelin on a geth class and i got kicked... and pluss i may be in party chat with friends, and i never have my mic on in gold and its rare that me and my team fail it.

You're wrong. I don't need a mic for Silver, and I more than likely don't need it for Gold if the other players are even halfway competent.

The majority of the time when someone does have a mic, they either won't shut up or you hear every single god forsaken sound coming out of their closet of a house.

There really isn't a need for a mic if the person knows what they are doing. Sure, communication can help when it comes to alerting potential threats (phantoms, banshees etc) but if everyone maintains a respectable level of situational awareness it isn't required.

 I only use my mic when:
A) I'm playing with friends
I join a game and see everyone else has a mic (they tend to be polite and ask me to plug it in ..... Most of the time)

Also what do you mean no excuse? They might not own a mic for what ever system they're playing the game on ....

Also I've played on gold as a level 1 and was last man standing

What sort of communication do you think is needed on a silver/gold game that requires mics to be turned on? If someone goes down, the game tells you. The objectives are clearly indicated, so no need for anyone to point those out via mic. People are familiar enough with the majority of the maps now so it's not like they need anyone telling them where to rally.  If there's a phantom or a banshee to be worried about, their telltale sounds make it pretty clear where to find them.

I leave my mic off and I turn off voice chat so I don't hear anyone speaking over theirs. I don't need some jerk barking orders or shouting complaints into my ear because someone's not playing the game the way he wants it to be played.

Voice chat is helpful, but I've gotten through bronze and silver games just fine without talking. Assume that everyone knows what they're doing and just focus on your own skills.

Oh, and if someone joins gold with a lower levelled character, don't automatically assume they're going to suck. For all you know, they could be your saving grace. Just sayin'.

No you are wrong.
Gold can be completed with out a Mic if you have team members that know what they are doing and have good situational awareness. Plus players that insist on you using one rarely have anything helpful to say.

I don't have a mic, have completed multiple silver and gold matches with groups where there was no one on mic. Simply put you are wrong. While a mic may make things easier it is not required.

No. You only need a mic if you're new to silver/gold. I completed lots of silver/gold matches without anyone having a mic.

Rarely hear people on mics, and I've done gold plenty.
Was doing a bronze or silver earlier and some guy had a mic.. and he was singing. Annoying.

I never use a mic, and I win more than 90% of my matches...just keep your head on a swivel and you won't need someone telling you an atlas is sneaking up on you.
