No, you're not right.  I've played Silver games, where one leaves in the opening seconds and we've won pretty damn quickly without talking.  And these are me and two other randoms.

Of course, I play on a PC so that might be the difference.

EDIT  I do have a mic and use it when I have to.

Sounds a bit stupid to me. Ive played over 300 hours on other multiplayer games and partied with the best without a mic. I shouldnt need to do it in ME3, especially when gold isnt even hard.

Anyone who has played the game 'Killing Floor' will know what i mean

That's why anyone on a mic should have a push to talk set.  Although I don't know how that would work on a console.

Ok, to all you douches who keep saying you dont need it... I know it might not be nessasary but it would sure as hell make the game better,

So you don't wish your team would tell you that a cloaked hunter or Phantom is lurking round a corner when you go to revive them? rather then you die too? You'd rather waste your rocket ammo because someone else fires a rocket at the same time, wasting it... Sorry but playing a team game WITHOUT a mic is stupid, pointless and annoying for everyone else. I rest my case.

I'll just point out a few things.

You call anyone who disagrees with you a douche, yet expect to be taken seriously and not insulted.

You suggest anyone who doesn't play like you do is stupid, even though in 99% of the games I've been with four player's with mics no one says ANYTHING, and many people complete silver/gold without mic use entirely.

You imply that there is no excuse for a mic, insulting every player who has kids and doesn't want to wake them,  people who are deaf, female players who have no wish to hear immature teenagers sexually harass them, anyone travelling trying to get in a quick game who does not have a headset tht works with a laptop....

You state you will kick/quit any game with someone without a mic, meaning you would rather play with an N10 running a Novaguard toting an SMG and the Incisor but who has a mic over a N560 running a Bubble Adept with a Carnifex X.

Look. You clearly are not any good at this game. If you don't have the sense to do glance around before going for the rez on a downed team-mate, you are stupid. As far as rockets go, I have 94 rocket packs. It's credits. Getting more is not that hard. 

Of course there is a time and place for communications, especially in gold, but your angry , immature whining child attitude just makes me glad that I don't ever team with you.

I have a microphone but I choose not to use it most of the time. I already hear "Dumb **** you killstealer/hacker/terrorist/other go back to the kitchen/hell/police station/supermarket/other" enough for my weekly needs without making my presence obvious.

Usually people dont use theirs either, at least for anything relevant or in any language I comprehend. Still, I havent had problems clearing Gold against any faction.

If I come into a full lobby and see there is an Adept, I check what kind so I can choose a class that can either set up or detonate biotic combinations. Constant reave/warp -> throw spam really trivializes the whole thing and you dont need voip to coordinate that if the other party has half a brain.

Then if there are no adepts I either pick my engineer or infiltrator and see how it goes.

I cant think of many useful things in a public match that somebody else could tell me anyway or anything I could tell them that isn't already blatantly obvious or beyond my control.

On an average farming run where the whole group hunkers down near objectives or just a defensible position on killzones, if I have to tell somebody that there is a Geth Hunter/Phantom/Banshee/Ravager right behind them then it generally means that I am scoped in and the person is somewhere they shouldnt be.

Since otherwise I wouldnt be any wiser myself or the target is in the middle of the group and it's clear as day it's right there and there is no need to announce it to the universe when it's already beating our faces in.

Just had another reason to hate mics. Didn't hear a peep out of anyone the whole game. I was playing gold. I dashed all of three feet around the corner for two seconds to sabotage a rocket trooper to kill our target next to it, which nobody else was tackling because they were still camping in the corner suite, and some guy yelled "Get back here, what the f*** you doing" quite aggressively at me. I only ever hear people speak on multiplayer when they are being rude. Most of the time if I hear someone speaking over the mic, unless they're a rare player who can be polite, I will quit. Like I just did.

Incidentally, I took down a fair portion of the Prime's shields when I did my two second corner dash, but I guess camping is more useful than completing objectives.

It is funny how the ratio of stupid commentary vs. actual combat effectiveness seems to rise the more moronic the mic comments become, isn't it?

Also, try drinking vinegar, punching/kicking the wall or emptying a pistol clip on your couch pillows if you feel angry about anything.

Also why would I use it just because you want me to? If I don't feel like using it, I won't and that's plenty of justification. Deal with it.

It doesn't. I once "played" with a guy who sat by an ammo box for the last three rounds of a Silver and talked on his cell phone.

This also applies to Gold.

I've had a few Gold games now completely in silence, if your team is competent enough, it shouldn't be a problem. If your team is struggling to get past Silver without that level of communication then in all honesty, it isn't the mics or lack thereof that are the problem.

I will admit that having at least one player with a mic taking on a leadership role can help a fair bit if they're organizing rockets, ensuring you don't waste a medi-gel and so on. None of these things can't be circumvented by simply not sucking at the game however.

I've played numerous games (silver and gold) where no one, including myself, have microphones. They are by no means a necessity. You can't expect everyone to have a mic, so you'll just have to deal with it.

If people do have microphones and keep them turned off during a gold game, then I sympathise with you; overall it would be better if they used them. Even so, you can't force people to - it's their choice.

I'd also suggest that if you don't want people trolling your post that you refrain from calling anyone a 'douche' or similar. If you expect courtesy, sir, you have to extend it.

Never had a problem clearing silver without one. If you don't scatter to opposite ends of the map it's not hard to help eachother out. Can see how it would help with gold though. Takes a lot more effort not to die.

Voice chat is very distracting and depending on who's speaking, very annoying. Plus, I'm wondering if the OP has ever heard of shyness. I own a mic and I dare not speak, lest some closet racist/sexist/homophobe/guy who can't speak English very well spew venom my way. PC, PS3, 360, it matters not; I'm not gonna risk it.
