Voice chat isn't even slightly required. And for the most part when people do use it its to babble about nonsense, or talk about their leetness rather than use it constructively.

This gets especially fun when they do it in another language. Got in a few groups where a pair continually chattered in chinese, and one that I think was in Hungarian. While funny, it was pretty distracting.

Its not about being shy, or having a vocal issue. Some of us just dont want to hear you.

To the Kinect user who last night permitted his mouth-breathing buddy to eat a sopping bowl of cornflakes right next to the mic - thank you, too! It was a sloppy run, but we made it to extraction and my kids found the disgusting gobble-snarf-gulp-belch-crunchyslosh hilarious.

To be honest if someone see's a hunter cloaked around a corner maybe their time would be better spent killing it rather than chatting about it. In the end even though I have a mic, I don't use it simply because... I can't be bothered. Quite simple really. Almost all of the time never need to use it either. Last night had everyone run off all got wiped out at start in silver and I had to clear the stage myself, didn't feel the need to chat about it, just got on with it.

I got yelled at by a douche who got himself killed by charging into the middle of a double banshee mob. Apparently I was playing the game wrong. I didn't have the lowest score or needed the most revives though.

Voicechat isn't necessary in the least, not even on gold. Only with friends it's fun

Mics are in no way needed for this game. If you don't see that hunter when you're coming to revive mr, that's on you. Some of us actually look at the area before blindly rushing in. what's worse than people who don't use mics is the idiots who just run about randomly and get taken down and then cry about not getting revived in time because they're in the middle of the enemy spawn point.

No. I beat gold all the time with my asari artillery, doubling or tripling the scores of the second and third place people. Consistently.

I don't revive, and I don't want to talk to a bunch of xbox live neckbeards and prepubescent derpturds.

If you don't like it, kick me before the match (that's what the lobby is for).

My headset doesn't even keep the mic active long enough to say anything, I have to use my webcams mic and it has to be held near my mouth even then.

The voice chat in this game is truly awful.

  If you use it on PTT(push to talk) instead of voice you should have no problem with mic function. IMO I think that game makers need to do away with voice active mics in game, cause I don't need to hear someones TV, music, wife/gf. burpping,farting, etc.

 I do back to back multiple gold matches with no mic, in fact noone has them.  

Option #2 - Text chat options?!  No reason whatsoever that we have no way to text chat

Not at all, I play in the same area as the group on gold maps, I don't run off on my own, but I'm not risking my ass for some idiot who can't stay behind cover like the rest of us.  My idea of being a team player is raining down biotic explosions every two seconds.  It's going to cost me (and the team) quite a bit if I stop to play nursemaid to some poor baby.  This is how you play as a real team, not the scooby doo carebears team.

That I could spend on DLC for another game, use as a downpayment at Gamestop on a new game, or anything else that I actually want and will use. Heck I rather take that money and smoke it like a cigaretter than spend it on a mic.

The only time I use a mic in a game is to yell at someone to shut the ever living hell up that no one cares what kind of pizza they are getting. Then I will promptly unplug the thing and set it aside.

Oh gtfo.... all i play is Gold, i have every weapon up to X level (except for ultra rares and most of them are at level 3), i almost never go down on Gold, always try my best to revive everyone, always play my part according to the class i picked and still i get douchebags like you voting me out.

If you people are so bad that you need to constantly say what you see or do then use it.

When i go to play Gold i expect everyone to be either as good or knowledgelable of the game as me, that way i don't have to put a dumb headset and feel like as if I work at Mcdonalds saying orders and ****.

P.S. my mic broke 2 days ago so i can't plug it in and act like im talking or something...
