I was in Hawke's estate and Sandal said something really strange that I'd never heard him say before:

Sandal: One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.
Bodahn: Huh. What's this?
Sandal: When he rises, everyone will see.
Bodahn: By the ancestors, what's gotten into you, my boy?
Sandal: Enchantment?
Bodahn: Hmph. That's more like it.

It made me wonder if DA3 or some future DA title will involve this as it's main story? What with the Mage/Templar conflict maybe the Mage's end up unleashing/summoning something dangerous? Hm, I'm really intrigued now. Hopefully it won't turn out to be a throw away comment.

What was your initial reaction when you heard Sandal say this?

"Mage's end up unleashing/summoning something dangerous?"

1)I thought that was Legacy -Corypheus-warden.

But am probably wrong and He/she* ( if mage-warden) won't be mentioned in da3 at all, am not going to surprised by it either way.

2)Hmm I dought leaving the books in the city is going to be found and read by anyone who is not a mage, and able to unleash the 99 demons in it( hawke is the hero in da2 so it follows that S/he can read magical books*)
A commoner wouldn't touch something that screams blood or magic in the very first page.

LOL part of that I can't help but think of Robert Jordans The Wheel of Time.  About Rand and how his coming will open peoples eyes, also where he walks the shadows litereally part and the skies become clear.

Doesn't even have to be Mage related. It just sounded to me like something bad will come back and cause an almighty **** storm, I just ran with the Mage idea because magic was mentioned, as an example.

Maybe it was just supposed to be a nod to The Wheel of Time or something then? I know Sandal quotes a couple of Easter eggs during DA2.

Did you have to do something specific to get Sandal to say this line? I talk to him whenever I'm in Hawke's house, and I usually get the same 2 or 3 lines.

I once saw him say, "I like pie!", but never saw that line again during repeated playthroughs.

Ain't gonna lie: my first thought was Old God Baby. But since OGB doesn't exist for dark ritual refusers, I'm guessing it really means something else.

Skies will open wide: return of the dragons, even more? Return of the griffons?

The magic will come back, everyone will be just like they were: Re-powering of the elves with their former immortality and enhanced magic?

Probably none of the above. If I was going to place a bet, my money would be on Sandal's lines remaining cryptic and mostly meaningless, like the dialogue of the Arl of Foreshadow from DAO.

I'm not sure, I'd never heard him say anything like that before in any of my other playthroughs. Here's a video of him saying it, it's bloody creepy!

The Arl of Foreshadow? I don't remember that one, what was said?

It has a very low probability of coming up when you click on him.  I've tried quite a bit, but never had it happen in any of my games.

Arl Foreshadow was involved in Summoning Sciences, during Broken Circle in Origins.

Hoho! Ill have to keep my eye out for this dialog. How did you get it? Did you click on him? Or did he just blurt it out? Also, goes back to our conversation about DA3. Hopefully if they decide to incorporate some form of ancient evil that it resides in the fade and that mages and the chantry will be swept away by these events. :U

It could be a positive prediction, I hadn't considered that possibility. Whenever I hear about anyone rising I automatically assume it'll be a bad thing LOL. It's just the way he says it sounds scary and bad.

Could be him, but didn't we kill him off? Unless his soul transfered into Larius' body?

More stuff: I'm playing right now and during Merril's recruitment quest she mentions that the Dalish believe that ALL elves were once mages. Kind of goes hand in hand with what Sandal was saying.

So maybe something bad will happen and some sort of evil will rise, then our character will defeat it and the ways of old will be restored?

You can't restore the OLD way, not many people believe in it but it could mean that more people will have magical childrens, thats one thing that cullen wasn't happy about, templars are made, mages are born. Is like the maker is slaping the chantry left, right and center.

Like I said before it could be Corypheus, he is very powerful creature that hawke inadvertently let lose in the world, or it could be somethign also.. somehting that the architec made but The warden never found out after S/he killed the Architec and the Mother.

I'm just throwing theories around, I'm not suggesting that it WILL happen or that I'd even want to see happen in the game. The ways of old may not necessarily mean magic, it could just be old beliefs or a way of life.

This was adressed to by BW.
I was dissapointed when it was said that BW thought it would be funny to let Sandal say that when being adressed. Do not know excactly what BW said but it was in the lines of: if we let him say this the players will start wondering what he means by this.

But on the other hand; now that Sandal has said this it could very well be used for a lot of stuff mentioned above by other posters in DA3.

And maybe increase Sandal's rol in the progress which would make me very happy :)
