Well, for some reason now in ME3 when I play the sound level is really low and can barley hear with my headsets. Every other game I can hear without issues, I made sure the sound quality in game was set on high and everything is 100% And its obviously not my sys volume because battlefield 3, witcher 2 etc play with the volume loud like always...Anyone run into this issue?

I noticed this issue as well, most notably after I alt-tab out/back into the game.
Further it seems that if the sound card was using any form of surround sound prior to using headphones, it seems to use primarily the center channel (so some effects are disproportionately louder than others) instead of the game switching to a standard 2-channel sound for use with headphones.
Before anyone says that its my sound card, this issue ONLY happens in ME3. Quake 4, ME2, ME1, Starcraft 2 all work fine and do not have this issue.

I have the same problem. I always have to put the computers volume control up to 100% when playing ME3, and if I decide to play single player after multi player I have to quite and restart the game, otherwise Shep & Co. are barely audible.

Rob Blake (audio lead) explained that the game volume is low on purpose. It had something to do with limited sound compression which results in a lower volume but I don't remember the details. This decision was made because you can increase your volume anyway.

Even if the sound was designed to be low, that's not the issue I'm describing.
My issue is when I flip between windows and the game or even between using the speakers and headphones which can't be adjusted beyond what windows allows (unless you use a home theater reciever for speaker power and even then you get a hissing sound at high levels if the input isn't strong enough) the sound actually drops to some lower level.
ME1 and 2 don't have this issue at all.
What frustrates me is that this game was built around the restrictions of the console and then literally just copy/pasted to the PC which makes for shoddy pc game.
Games should be built for the more complicated pc and then down-converted for the console. Filmmaking does this where they all shoot in HD and then just down convert for standard dvd format.
It's sad that these issues are appearing due to rushed game and bass-ackwards developement strategy.

Interestingly enough HD film is a lower resolution than 35mm celluloid so by going digital they started filming on an inferior definition.djspectre wrote...
