Was that before or after the quarians try to wipe out a sentient form of life? the quarians started the war not the other way round.

You know its odd, I really dislike every quarian I meet (except Adam Baldwin, he's ok) and their race as a whole, yet whenever I asked myself that question before my answer was always a reluctant, Quarians.

Yet when the time came on Rannoch, I really thought I would have to choose one to live and one to die.

And I chose the Geth, I didn't want to (Tali actually grew on me a little bit) but I couldn't condemn the Geth for the Quarians continued bigotry and idiocy.

So I guess my answer is Geth.

Quarians. We can rebuild the toasters later.

Where do people get this "every quarian I've met is horrible" foolishess from? The only ones we meet who are anything less than nice are Gerrel (who we can punch) and Prazza (who is already dead). Well, maybe Xen, but really, how can you not love Xen? Dat voice.

Compare that to the number of nasty asari or humans we've encountered, and it's no contest really.

And they deserve a ****slap for that. Still doesn't make me side with a Toaster if i have to kill one off.  I mean Legions dead anyway no reason to care for the Geth anyway . For all i know they could side with the Reapers again if things go sideways.

I think I'd have to go with the Geth. Ultimately, Commander Shepard has to make a decision that will give the best possible chance of defeating the Reapers. Not only are the Geth substantially stronger than the Quarians

That depends entirely on whether you rewrote or destroyed the heretics. If you destroyed them (which is, IMO, the right decision), the quarians are in fact worth more War Assets than the geth.

Also, if you make your decisions entirely based on War Assets, then you should also kill Wrex on Virmire and sabotage the genophage in order to get both krogan and salarian support. Yet I see few people taking that path.

I'm not judging it in terms of war asset numbers, I'm judging it in terms of the universe since this is an RPG. I didn't sabotage the genophage because it had the strong potential to backfire, and I believed the full support of the Krogans to be substantially more valuable than that of the Salarians in a stand-up fight.

The fact remains that, sure, the Geth might be worth fewer war assets than the Quarians for some odd reason depending on the sum total of the decisions that you make. The problem is that the Geth are pretty consistently kicking Quarian tail all over the Rannoch system despite being hit by a devestating surprise attack. It's clear that they have a technological and military edge over the Quarians by a substantial margin. Commander Shepard, based on his experiences while on Rannoch, would have to see that the Geth make much more powerful allies than the Quarians.

Now, you could decide to save the Quarians for other reasons, but you're certainly weakening your alliance to do so.

Quarians.

When all is said and done, the Geth are just computers. A 300-year blip of simulated consciousness. Quarians have untold eons of history and culture. You'd wipe that out for some "sentient" caretaker robots?

Geth.
I had to make this choice a few days ago on a non-import save. The Quarians lost my sympathy once they were revealed to be the aggressors twice over.

Again I see that people fail to recognise that the Geth committed genocide on an unparalleled level. *Billions* of Quarians have died since and during their exile from their homeworld. The codex suggests there were billions living on Rannoch. The Quarian population is estimated to about 17 million now. That's a lot of Quarians killed by the Geth. The fact that they are willing to forgive the Geth is amazing.

Quite a few of those Quarians may have been killed by the other Quarians, since a lot of them sided with the Geth during the Morning War.

Not in the billions. Not even close. A few thousands? Sure, but do not try to push this on the Quarians.

Quarian's purely because there was no alternative squad mate if you picked the geth, doesn't mean I would have liked the decision though

"They started it" does not justify genocide. The Geth are machines, nothing more up until Shepard and Legion manage to upload the Reaper code.

Even after that I still have my reservations about calling them real "people". Sure, they are aware, but they do not feel. No emotion, no... culture. Mordin speaks a lot about how bad it is that the Collector's have no culture. The same goes for the Geth.

Quarians due to:

- Tali
- Geth being synthetic, although I respect/love them equally.

So, if a machine race took over Earth, you would simply think "Well we should just leave it like that. It's our fault anyway."?

Correction: The Quarians were tearing the Geth apart...until the Geth turned to the Reapers and got all those upgrades.

To answer the OP, I would choose the Quarians. I can't believe how blind some people seem to be when going over this choice. All I see is "Legion is cool! How can I kill the geth??" or "the geth were simply defending themselves". Think about the long-term implications of siding with the Geth: they are synthetics implemented with reaper code. REAPER CODE. Can you predict what they would choose to do after the Reapers have been delt with? Of course not. They are completely unpredictable, especially without the Quarians to keep them in check. To be honest, the thought scares me.

Then again, this is irrelevant considering the ending.

One could use this same argument to justify Sidonis's betrayal.
