To be fair to the Quarians.

Not all tried to wipe the Geth out during the morning war, many died protecting the Geth. When it was the Geths time to fight back, they killed all regardless.

The Geth took it a step further.

Geth.
I had to make this choice a few days ago on a non-import save. The Quarians lost my sympathy once they were revealed to be the aggressors twice over.

Exactly my view on it.  I hate to use the word Comeuppance, but that's almost what it was.

So, if a machine race took over Earth, you would simply think "Well we should just leave it like that. It's our fault anyway."?

That's thinking as one of the involved parties, not an outside party.

But just for arguments sake.  No I wouldn't just say leave it as a human.  But at the same time if I started the war and ended up getting my ??? kicked I really couldn't blame an outside party for saying you started this you live with the results.  Basically I woulnd't expect pity as the aggessor.

Apparently Bioware does, judging by the endings.

So many people hold a grudge against the Quarrians for being aggressors.  Why don't you hold a grudge against the Geth for being aggressors throughout the first 2 games.  Why don't you hold a grudge for the Geth not trying to find a peaceful end to 400 year war with the Quarrians?  It's a 2 way street.

It's one attrocity after another.  It's kinda like the Middle East.  There are murderers on every side. I don't give a damn who started it.  It should just end.

So I change my choice and say, whoever is left standing! :D

quarians. for tali.
if need be i can rebuild the geth and treat them right from the start. not that id do that though, that would just be weird.

interesting dilemma though; technically, the quarians were at fault, according to both me1 and 3. tali states that the geth were showing signs of self awareness and they tried to shut them down to prevent the uprising (nice going btw.), the geth consensus mission suggests the same thing and furthermore makes the geth look like victims, since they didnt hunt the quarians to extinction.

if it wasnt for tali, i would side with the geth.
i have no idea why, but ever since ME1 she was my favorite character in this universe. until legion, who manages to tie her for first place, maybe BECAUSE of his peoples history with talis, and the interaction between the two that shows the charactergrowth of tali. (i know, im a succer for that chick)

Got this choice during my first playthrough (didn't have enough rep)

Chose the quarians.

The way I see it, the geth had plenty of other options, first of all, they chose to use Rannoch's sun for their dyson sphere, that's the worst possible location. Secondly, they allied with the reapers. Self defense and everything sure, but they too know that the reapers will wipe them out after they're done with the organics.

Then there's the whole genocide during the morning war committed by the geth. Even Legion says that the geth are not better (imperical evidence). And lastly, they're just advanced machines at this point, not true intelligences (like Legion).

Quarians - Legion dies no matter what so it boils down to whether or not you want Tali back on the Normandy again.

You're oversimplifying the Morning War a bit there.
The Geth only acted in self-defence (twice). It was the Quarians fault, and by Mass Effect 3 they are at war with the Geth again.

If you don't upload the code, the Geth have no consciousness. The reason they "stop firing" is because there are so few of them left that their collective intelligence is about that of a two-year-old. If you upload the code, I could see how they could be considered "a people," but not uploading the code leaves them as about as sentient as a windows 7 desktop. So definitely the Quarians.

If peace wasn't a possibility, the Geth. The Quarians brought it on themselves. They even destroyed that awesome Geth dreadnought I was going to aim at the Reapers. While Tali and I were still inside. If they had taken the opportunity to take their ships and leave the system, as we had planned, the confrontation on Rannoch would not have happened at all.

Gerrel should be court martialed and exiled for treason.

The loss of Tali is horrible, and I'm glad I was able to achieve peace, but Shepard has to do what is right no mater how painful.

I blame that geth consensus mission; it's horribly and unsubtly biased and feels like you're being clubbed with a "geth symathy" stick. Anyway, thinking that any race in the ME universe being either wholly innocent or guilty is an example of black-and-white thinking that will always be false.

I will let the Geth die to save the Quarians.

Geth:
Ok now explain the previous 300 years of violence. Without the word Heretic.(When did the Heretics become Heretics? 300 years ago? I doubt it.) Or argue the fact Legion is out for it's race survival. Show signs of peaceful intentions of the Geth as a whole.

What you said is true, but the Geth are not securing their survival, but rather their own extinction . As it is a known fact the Reapers are destroying all civilized life. The Geth are just procrastinating their own destruction, and are now willing to help the Reapers kill everyone else, including Quarians,Humans and every ORGANIC out their.

(Their new found "stupidity" does not justify their past, present,or the actions of the willing Heretics. IMO there is more proof leaning towards the Geth becoming extremely hostile. (if needed) 300 years ago they nearly killed the Quarian race. 300 years later the Heretics tried to help kill all Organic life. A few years later and the True Geth also decided to help kill the Quarians and all Organic life once again...)

That is why the Reaper on Rannoch states the war disproves Shepard's statement. Because it does. When the synthetics were faced with extinction, they were willing to destroy ALL ORGANIC life to survive. Proving the Starchild's statement in the "artistic trash" we got as an ending.

I get the ending. And it still sucks.

This is one of, no the hardest decision in the games for me. Thank god i've never had to make it both times I played through I managed to get peace.

I could not do anything to upset my girl T, but I could not hurt the geth who have been treaded like dirt by the quarians and totally miss understood.

I guess would have to save geth, just can't stand admirals gerral and xen, Sorry Tali

The only reason they're in that state is because you and the quarians did that to them. What you're talking about is just completing the genocide. Far better to save the Geth.

I think the big argument for letting the Geth get wiped out is concerns over their loyalty. They sided with the reapers once, some of them twice. And Legion's plan is to spread Reaper tech all over the place.

Yea,so you are going to save the race whom sided with the Reapers and were willing to destroy all organic life to survive. What a tough choice.

Pretty much. A mission showing how the Quarians have suffered would have been fitting to give perspective.
