They fight in the Krogan sacred battle grounds chamber. 

Each have their choice of shotgun, no side arms or biotics allowed. 

Running out of ammo is possible. 

Resorting to hand to hand is very likely.

Wrex would win. if you listen to the lore on Tuchanka in ME2 they say how Wrex killed a thresher maw by himself during his rite. Grunt needed Sheps assistance and even then sometimes you run out of time before you kill the maw.

I don't like your ground rules. Why can't Wrex use biotics? He's a Krogan Battlemaster, and Krogan don't believe in fair fights, the believe in winning at all costs. Setting those rules in a Krogan duel is like saying 'no headbutting allowed.'

Anyway Wrex wins based on experience

Of course Wrex would win. Grunts not the smartest guy around . Grunt may be stronger but pure strength means nothing without the smarts.

Look at the scenes presented in-game.

Grunt takes on an army of rachni solo and wins.

Wrex can attempt to kill Shepard on the Citadel and is gunned down pathetically easily with just a pistol.
