With Origin and Bioware's Mass Effect 3 alike.

Already have I been getting those sudden disconnects that lose all the XP/credits but still consume equipment.
Already have I been losing Bioware Points in the store because of disconnects.

NOW....
With the new patch out, my computer can't download it. When I set it to check for updates, it never found anything, even an hour later, still checking. (That's mostly Origin.)
Then later when it tried to patch it when trying to boot the programme the next day, it said 'installing'.... for who knows how many hours (after about half an hour of nothing happening I played another game with it 'installing' in the background.)
....only whenever I tried to boot it up, Origin error! Try again, ERROR, only slightly different this time. Third time, ERROR, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE ME3 INSTALLED NOW APPARENTLY.
Trying to find the answer to this new blight, I found out from other users deleting the profile can help. Well, I certainly was able to start the programme this ti-- INSTALLING PATCH PLS WAIT.... wth? Were the many hours spent doing something else not enough? Why are we still at 0%? **** this, play without the patch.
Except now all of the acheivments are gone, too (why didn't they sync them, like in Dragon Age? ORIGINS? Did the information collapse into space and time?) and I'm getting sudden freezes so severe it locked up my computer for several seconds trying to load the Task Manager to kill the process.

Also, EA and Origin customer service are no help, because God forbid anyone think they actually care.

Have any players experienced anything like this? What can I do? I want to play the new maps before the weekend is over for the reserves pack. Couple all these problems with the sudden mysterious load spike (like as in, around one full minute per *.bik, Normandy and mission alike) and I am... very unhappy with EA and Bioware right now.

sounds like you are having computer problems coinciding with your origin problems (or they are a symptom). try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it fresh. the slow loading of cutscene bik files sounds like you are having hardware troubles tho...

Nope. Origin is a steaming pile of crap. On top of the abovementioned issues is another mountain of poor design choices, bad network code, etc.. But (and this is as optimistic as I get) Steam was really no bettwr when it was first released. I'm sure that, given time, Origin will be a viable competitor to Steam. In about 10 years I'd guess.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that (on windows 7 at least) running Origin as Administrator seems to fix a bunch of problems.

Thanks guys. I'll try those when I have access to a higher internet data-cap for re-download :) also, that administrator running is a good idea - since the only profile on my laptop is mine and I am the administrator, it seems a little redundant... but it can't hurt
