Why did the Harbinger want Shepard alive during ME2/Arrival?
The fact that ME3 never touches on this bugs me so much
A question that was never answered.

I don't think anyone knows WHY for certain, but it's undoubtedly an interesting notion that the Reapers wanted Shepard alive. Guess we'll never know now. Bummer.

Presumably he wanted to make Shepard part of the Reaper he was building. Preserve and ascend the Commander who was a merited organic worthy of such honor in his eyes.
