Maintaining more focus on those and better moderated so the ones who spend all day being hostile and using vitriol and threats against them as a developer are immediately kicked from the thread or suspended in order to keep the discussions and feedback on topic and productive. Developer threads, no fan threads present in that section but the ability for fans to post in those threads and add to the discussions within.
They started using specific questions on individual elements in the DA2 section and it was very successful in opening up dialogue between developers and fans and very productive discussions, you could take it much further and either create specific sections of the forums for it with unique threads from their end (Biowares) relating to individual elements for discussion and no user created threads present or in order to remove all the spam and nonsense that goes on right now. This would be my ideal solution and hope.
There has been few threads which match this format so expanding to section where such threads are the only ones present (no fan generated threads), they have both been very productive and they very much listened to the feedback. Having a section which handles threads and topics in such a way would have some major benefits. Section devoid of fan threads and only developer threads relating to specific areas of discussion would like to have with fans which they could take more part in and be easier, better moderated.
You could still have the other sections for example technical assistance or off topic even a single section for general topics / discussion on top of what I am proposing but less of them. It would be easier to manage, easier to moderate and far more productive. Even if not used as an idea I hope it is atleast considered.
