If the Geth were "just defending themselves" why did they kill so many quarian babies?

I agree with The Angry One. We saw how the Quarians treated their own kind who defended the Geth. They shot they, heck they even blew them up. The military didn't care as long as they got the Geth units. It wouldn't have surpirzed me if they unintentionally kill a few kids or babies because they didn't think things through.

Either that or they did a whole Roman empire thing. Let me explain that so there is no missunderstanding. When the Roman Empire was going strong they attacked anyone and anyplace they could to control everything. The people they attacked knew what the Romans did to the people. They did things that makes warcrimes today look tame. So in order to spare their loved ones form that, they killed them. They do a Medea and 'save them from the unkindness of the world.'

P.S. Sorry if i bored anyone. I love Greek Mythology.

I personally think that any child deaths would be caused by either side missing their targets or the Quarians killing the families of those who supported the Geth (so they wouldn't have any opposition from the next generation later).

One person did mention that Geth (back then) might not have realized the difference between adult Quarians and children, and that they may have just saw children as newly made platforms.

I was hoping you'd see fit to enlighten me.

And I was speaking about the ****'s, the WW-2 era Germans would be considered as the Quarians who did not want to kill the Geth (For the obvious similarities.)

Many, if not most, Germans citizens vigouously supported their nation's war effort during WWII.

And really your arguement about the Quarians not being the aggressors is just funny, it makes me question if you even played the game or not.

If you think I argued that the quarians were not the aggressors, it makes me question if you even understood my argument.  If there was a particular point that threw you, I'd be happy to clarify.

Our arguement about the german-quarian analogy has either gone in a circle or you've started trolling...

As for the Zealots, I don't think I need to enlighten you about a jewish sect if you didn't see my joke.

Neither, it was a ridiculous parallel to draw in the first place.

It's insulting to compare fictional robots and people killing each other to something where real, living people suffered and died.

Fair enough, I haven't been drawing good analogies as of late, but still when the Quarians attacked 100% of the time when they had the upperhand when the Geth never hunted them and said they were open to peace then why would you have sympathy for them (Some of them deserve sympathy, but most of them would be called war criminals of the Geth were organic).

As for my joke, why did you do that?

You can call them war criminals when the geth are synthetic.  I have sympathy for the quarians because they've been exiled from their homeland and have spent 300 years living a hand-to-mouth existence on the fringes of galactic society.

As for my joke, why did you do that?

Do what?

I'd feel better if you could form a coherent argument without resorting to Godwin's Law.

But the Geth said they were willing to make peace time and again, and the Quarians weren't exactly "exiled" from their homeland.

As for the joke, you're just trolling at this point.

Were they?  Not attacking is not at all the same thing as making peace.   And that's the problem, to the geth, the concept of "peace" seems to be no more sophisticated than "not fighting."  A most childish way of thinking.  That's the larger reason the Geth-Quarian Conflict went on so long, the issues that started it were never resolved.

and the Quarians weren't exactly "exiled" from their homeland.

They were driven away by an armed force and prevented from returning by an armed force.

You keep saying that.  Whether you believe me or not, when I ask a question it's because I want to hear the answer.  And when I you asked for clarification, it's because I didn't understand what it was that you were attempting to communicate.

Legion told them they were willing to have peace, and legion most likely wasn't lying, as I've said before if they sent an Envoy ship with ambassadors the Geth would most likely have been glad to be negotiations, but as it was the Geth were continuely being attacked by Quarians, the armed force was acting in self defence.

But yes this has gotten a little off topic... but I'm not sure a new thread would really help...

The whole Geth vs Quarian thing has been talked to death. People have picked their sides and are sticking to them. Really, there is no more discussion to be had. So instead, its much more enjoyable (for me at least) to watch posts go back and forth.

The whole off-topic thing is just a result of the lack of anything else to discuss.

EDIT: I am back in to discuss.

Not lying.  Just didn't understand the concept.

The Council tried that.  The geth shot them down.

That's not self-defense.  That's just plain old defense.  The war never ended.

The geth may have been open to peaceful coexistence, but as long as they made no actual overtures their openess don't mean a heck of alot.

Oh but it is.. peace does not necessarily imply "on good terms"

Source for the council? All they did was send a fleet to the edge of the veil incase they invaded, which they didn't.

So fun to watch them be going from:
 to
<_< followed by
 then
:pinched: after which they are still
 and finally to -_-

And yeah, the whole topic was about something we know hardly anything about, so off topic was bound to happen eventually! :S
