Started new (2nd) playthrough as adept, after buying "From ashes" DLC, all fas fun an even easier then first play as an infiltrator, then found myself unable to kill this ***ing Atlas, in the end of mission. I stupidly started the DLC mission before Palaven, so only squadmates avalible are Liara and Vega, and none has abilities useful againist shield, and adept also doesnt... Any advice how to take this thing out, especially if cerberus guys supporting it seem to be limitless?

Biotic Explosions. Warp > Throw over and over again. The explosions will take the thing down in no time and kill any nearby little guys, too.

Both warp and throw doesnt work on shields, at least for me it displays red icon :(. Once this thing is "in armor" i can deal with it no time (warp+warp+carnage = half of armor), but by that time it is on top of me (walked to the damn prothean pod), and kills my squadmates . The problem is there is lack of cover around the pod, in all other missions (like sur'kesh) there's a lot of places to hide.

They do still work on shields. It displays a red icon only to let you know that it won't be as effective. You can still use Warp to set up a Biotic Explosion and then follow up with Throw immediately to detonate it.

As for the lack of cover, you don't actually have to stay near the pod. You can fall back to the buildings nearby if you want.

That is true, in a way; however, whilst the atlas takes negligible damage from warp, you can still set up warp explosions. Further, your best bet is spamming warp+throw, rather than just warp.

Cover: Try climbing back up onto the roof... don't think the mech can get up there.

Finally, yeah, that's a known problem. If you start a mission you cannot complete (either at all, or without respeccing or picking a different bonus power), you're basically ****ed because you can't abort. If you cannot complete the mission because of a bug (e.g. one of the visions tends to crash my game), you're ****ed. But! Artistic Integrity! You lose, Sir!

Thank you both for your replies! Now I can try killing that thing again :), I hope with much more success. I thought red icon means I just cant use it.

That means the mech wouldnt kill the pod? I thought I should guard it, or prothean gets killed (like krogan female)... Stupid me . You just made things a lot easier.

How about cracking it open and sending troops to hell with one-shots?

Well, I'd love to see you do that with starting (not upgraded in any way) guns on hardcore difficulty. Oh, and without sniper rifle and cloak bonuses.

I did it on Insanity with engineer right after Menae.

First of all - after Menae you get Garrus and Edi, (both are with overload, which is very good vs. shields), a decent sniper rifle, and creds for a number of upgrades. My mistake was that I was too itching to see the prothean and particle rifle, so i decided not to wait for Palaven mission .

Second - engineer has powers which are quite good againist both tech enemies (overload, sabotage), and armor (incinerate), while 2-biotic+soldier team lacks them. Breaking in sabotaged atlas - simple enough, rather then in active one.

Sabotage? No. Sniper Rifle? Well i've got a Valiant, but still didn't use it. I was with Liara and James - having EDI and Garrus are not argument. Just shooting it's face with Crusader and Hurricane.
(Well, you may call Crusader a Sniper Shotgun, but it's still not a rifle :3)

I'd suggest taking out everyone else first. A lone Atlas is no threat.

Well either you are a much better action player then me  (which is possible, hadn't played actions since ME2, and ME2 is way easier action then ME3), or collector edition weapons pack much more punch then standard starting ones. Unfortunately I didnt have a chance to try ones B). I have little doublt that, given enough effort it could be done, for example (I think) almost any class with upgraded to level V  Mantis rifle with concentration and high caliber mods (avalible lvl2 immedately after first trip to Citadel) could do the job you describe nicely, but I happen to take an assault rifle, smg and a pistol, and all
are - lvl I.

Wouldn't taking all those weapons put your cooldown recharge way into the red as an adept?

I did it with infiltrator on insanity as the first mission after mars. The troops are not limitless, there are in fact very few of them. Just take cover in the compaund, (vega say that there are spare ammo clips to re-supply) - and shoot it.

take the ladder up, on those trailers, or whatever you call them. place your squad there too. you have cover from all angles and can shoot any minions coming up the ladder. Also a clear shot at the mech

You should be able to focus fire at it from the place where Javik is behind cover, take out the cerberus soldiers when they are dead infront of you then go back to the mech. If you are a biotic you should not be taking squadmates who are all biotic.

If all else fails when the sequence starts, run up top of the building in front and pew pew from above.

Strangely - but no, it didnt. It gave me even ~ 10 or 20% cooldown bonus. Argus rifle + Shuriken SMG with ultralight materials+ Predator. If I'd take shotgun or Mantis instead of rifle - yes,its about 70% penalty...

All the advice so far is good. Other than power combo'ing, I've used every one of these tricks (all at once, all in the same PT), so they all work. My advice is to start using power combos religiously, b/c that will carry you through the whole game.

The first time I played this mission, I was still trying to play it like it was ME2 Insanity, stripping defenses, then CC, then killing. I didn't know how to tech or biotic combo (ME3 style) properly, so I ran out of ammo and eventually had to take out the Atlas with Concussive Shot (squaddies dead). However I could've avoided all that pain by just combo'ing, so really, that's all that's needed for this mission.

also, I don't know if you're on the pc or not but I find it *immensely* helpful to disable automatic squad powers and drag their abilities to the hotbar to hotkey them. I usually have 4 of my abilities in the first 4 slots and the last 4 I split up between my squadmates. Really helps for combos. Then bind them to easy to reach keys (I use Q, E and mouse buttons 3 and 4)

If you have the Chakram Launcher, just pop about 12 shots at the Atlas and it would be pretty much gone.

I recently did that mission after Mars with a new ME3 character Vanguard. I actually had more of a problem with the fight in that enclosed courtyard than I did with the Atlas. I was having trouble with James and Liara not shooting. I used almost all ammo available on that map in the mission. By the time I killed the Atlas, I had one round left in my pistol and my shotgun was empty.

What worked best for me was to stay in the building and pick off all the Cerberus troops, saving the mech for last. Then I just popped out from the window firing the odd shot or Reave/Warp combo and James's Carnage.

I just thought atlas gonna pop Javik's pod (like krogan female on sur'kesh) if I'll run to that building,  so I stayed there. Done - when working from within good cover - it was pretty easy , poor mech :innocent:

There's still no reason to lug all those weapons. 200% cooldown bonus, or something very, very close to it, is extremely powerful for a caster class. I'd find a pistol you're comfortable with, and equip that only. You'd be amazed how manageable combat can be for an adept or engineer with even a Predator I.

Adept doesn't need weapons.

There are several very good suggestions in here. The rooftop idea is pretty cool, I had used that myself in one game. Alternatively, you can stay in the lower level of that house and engage the troops first, then take out the Atlas.

Lastly, if you use Liara's Warp and your Throw you should be able to destroy the Atlas.

Staying by the pod is not optimal. That is why your squad tells you to look for ammo in the building before the wave with the Atlas shows up...
