Evon the Great's Mail + Wades Superior Dragonscale Gloves & Boots (gives armor set bonus) together with the Helm of Honnleath.
Or the Pious Armor (mod) together with the Helm of Honnleath (retinted for Pious Armor).

Cailan's Armor set is very nice for an Arcane Warrior, but requires the Helm, and I'd prefer to have the Helm of Honnleath in that spot. If I were to run another Arcane Warrior, I'd probably go with the following:

Weapon: Spellweaver

Shield: Eamon's Shield

Helm: Helm of Honnleath

Gloves: Wade's Superior Dragonscale Gloves

Chest: Evon the Great's Mail

Feet: Wade's Superior Dragonscale Boots

Belt: Andruil's Blessing

Amulet: Warden's Amulet

Ring 1: Key to the City

Ring 2: Lifegiver

I'd prefer the Warden Commander Armor, but the fact that it doesn't get a Set Bonus on the 360 makes it largely useless. Going with the Evon the Great's Mail and the Superior Dragonscale Boots and Gloves gives the best Fatigue reduction, while also giving several useful skills.

Effort really isn't the best choice. It's got a grand total of 27.5% Fatigue. The Superior Dragonscale set (even if using the Evon the Great's Mail) has a grand total of about 3.5% Fatigue. Given the +50% Fatigue that Combat Magic gives, I'd say that the Dragonscale set is actually better.

Yes, like swk says!
For weapon and shield I recommend Cailan's Arms (Maric's Blade + Cailan's Shield) because of the huge mana/stamina regen.

Keep in mind all, if you keep up shimmering shield your resistances will be maxed out (100/100/75/75/etc) and any resistances on armor or other items will not matter one bit, they will not be counted at all as the SS spell overrides them to cap. On the other hand, if you aren't going to use SS than high resist armor like juggernaut or wades for fire can be handy.

On the PC I went for the Runic Armour mod, although it's a little over powered. However Warden Commander armour is also an excellent choice. Wades Superior Dragon Bone Plate is also superb, I also like Corruption as that dexterity bonus is very nice. Executioner helms are also pretty good (+ 25 stamina if I recall correctly).

Question on how arcane warriors function: Could one equip Maric's sword and shield but have a staff secondary and as the activated weapon but still gain the stam/mana regen from Maric's stuff?

Unfortunately, Shimmering Shield is useless. Just about everything it does can be done nearly as well with no Mana Drain killing your Spellcasting.

Nope. When the Staff is the active weapon, you get no benefits from the Sword & Shield. OTOH, you can cast without worrying about your weapon. I always cast with staff in hand then switch to sword & shield to close.

I usually do keep a staff as a secondary weapon, but my AWs all get the "don't sheathe when casting" mod and typically use either Cailan's arms or the combo of Spellweaver+FadeWall (or Dead Coat of Arms until I can get Fade Wall).

I'm playing an Arcane Warrior so I can transfer him over to Awakenings, and I'm going to have to change my setup slightly.

Weapon: Maric's Blade

Shield: Cailan's Shield

Head: Helm of Honnleath

Hands: Wade's Superior Dragonscale Gloves

Chest: Evon the Great's Mail

Feet: Wade's Superior Dragonscale Boots

Belt: Andruil's Blessing

Amulet: Blood-Gorged Amulet

Ring 1: Key to the City

Ring 2: Dreamsever

The main changes are the weapon and shield (the Cailan's Arms set has nigh-ungodly Stamina Regen), and swapping out the Lifegiver (which will go to my Tank) for Dreamsever (since I'm doing mostly Spirit Damage). Other than that, it's just the same as before.

I'd also like to note that Cailan's Armor set makes a very good substitute until you can get the Dragon Scale needed for Wade's armor set. It's Fatigue isn't quite as good as Wade's set is, but it tops out at 14%, instead of the 39% it should be. It also provides a number of solid bonuses on top of it.

Much more badass to wade into a massive melee battle dual weapon fighting wearing a gaudy bathrobe.

This. Granted I miss my fire resistance. The defense, with the buffs aint bad. I also like looking good, and killing stuff ;)
