After played games through once on the hardest difficulty I always when replaying it, run it on the lowest just to be able too remind me of the game and take in the story better, so nothing wrong with playing it on easy.

I always play on easy just to get settled in game world and learn the ropes etc. when I play new games that is. In the ME3 demo, I played in story mode and on easy difficulty. After a while, when I have learned my around the game etc. I'll turn up the difficulty to normal (or is it called casual now?) - just to play like that game is supposed to be played. Occasionaly e.g. rarely will I lower the diffculty to easy to get past an obstacle that lets me go foward in the game. Only one time, with Draconis, in BG2, did I cheat and found a code that made Draconis go insta-death. (but he cheated as well...). I was not proud of doing this, but after having been beaten by him like 100th times, I had enough. And I was trying to beat or kill him, in the game, of course, on easy.

So no, nothing wrong with you playing on easy - I do it from time to time, as told. It is your game - you're allowed to play it any way you like. Just like you're allowed to choose any dialogues and any characters in the game. Don't want to have Sten in your party - you're free not to. Want to have Leliana in your party....great...

Do what you have to to enjoy the game. My first and only play to the end of the game (second playthrough) was a nightmare solo.

I never understood why people thought Draconis was difficult; they all claim he's more difficult than his father but I find it to be the other way around. Odd.

I play 99% of games on easy/normal. To OP: Do what's more fun for you, some people like to just relax and have a good time, others like the feeling of adrenaline boiling. It's just personal preference :)

I played DAO on easy first time through. I wanted to see the story and design. Second time through I bumped up the difficulty and learned the game mechanic.

This is like group therapy.

Hi my name is Trista. I play DA and DA2 on easy.

*collective* Hello Trista. Welcome.

Most games that aren't focused on combat I play on easy. Screw spending ten minutes on a battle, I've got a world to save.

play it on whatever setting you like
I often play games on easy though some games I go for normal (and it can get irritating to keep on telling a game (such as Kingdom of Amular) that I don't want to switch to casual just because I've died a few times...)

Do what you enjoy! Easy lets you play in a fluid manner and enjoy what is happening on the screen; The harder you make the game, the more you will hit the "pause" button to analyse what is happening, figure out strategy and tactics based on what you see before resuming for a few more second . I usually play most games on "normal" first time through, switrching down to "easy" until I've figured it out. At the other extreme there is major satisfaction knowing you've come through some complex situations on "nightmare"

I usually play on easy. I'm horrible when it comes to thinking of strategies. My only strategy is to use dirty fighting, backstab, run until I can use dirty fighting again, repeat. :P

Enjoy the story---the combat itself, and the difficulty, is secondary.

I play on Normal about 85-90% of the time, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'll ratchet the difficulty down if a particular battle is kicking me in the quad (the damn caravan quest with the boss-caliber mage on the hill gets me every time).

I play all games on either normal or easy.
I don't see the point in setting the difficulty high and just raging and not enjoying the game.
After all, games are meant to be enjoyed.

You'd be a chump if you played it on a higher difficulty setting than you'd actually like to get fake recognition from people you don't even know on some internet forum.

No.

My first few playthroughs of Origin were all on Easy. I'm not a particularly skilled tactical gamer, and probably am nowhere near as good as other people on this forum. My first ever playthough on easy was a pretty tough, and I had quite a few party wipes as I slowly taught myself how to play, and how to equip/build my companions. I've always been more interested in the story and RPG aspects than in min/maxing everything.

Having said that I've just started a new playthrough this week, and am trying the game on Normal skill. So far I'm doing ok, though I have to play far more cautiously, and pay a lot more attention to combat and positioning... no more merrily rushing into a group of enemies and spamming spells with wild abandon!

I always do the DLC missions first, followed by the main quests, starting with Broken Circle. The thing I've struggled with the most (so far) is the Revenant that is summoned when activating the broken statue in the Mages Circle... I found that fight to be absolutely brutal! Uldred felt quite easy by comparison. I'm kind-of dreading Morrigan's quest, as I always found that one really tough, even on easy.

I remember reading some posts on this forum from a guy who constantly claimed Origins was 'ridiculously easy', even on the hardest skill level. I can only assume that such people are absolute hardcore professional competitive gamers with years of experience and lightning-fast twitch reflexes; who spend hours pouring over spreadsheets, and stat comparison charts.

Dragon Age is the type of game that's ridiculously easy if you know it all already and take the time to get your build right and use all the right gear. If you play it "naturally", it's a heck of a lot harder.

It's also more tactical than most RPGs these days. Not nearly as much as in the "good old days", but it was still bound to catch more than a few people offguard.

Do you all hate me? I can't play on anything but easy, it hurts my brain.

Why care?  I play on casual the majority of the time.  I enjoy playing without the stress.  After a few years I move on to normal.  I really don't care what anyone thinks about it.

My first couple of playthroughs were on casual, nothing to worry about. These days I find hard the perfect difficult setting for me, it provides a nice challenge without being frustratingly difficult once you know your way around the gameplay mechanics, and where to find the best gear etc.

I guess you're right, though I suspect I'm not using the right build or gear as I always prefer to choose stuff that I personally find cool or fun, rather than min/maxing. Obviously there's nothing wrong with having such a mindset... but it does mean that I was finding my first playthrough on Normal to be very, very tough in places.

I was having big  problems in particular when facing spellcasters - As a case to point, the Blood Mage leader in the abandoned building in Denerim kicked my ass so hard that my Warden and his chums ended up hurled bodily out of Thedas and landing somewhere on the Elcor homeworld! Flemeth was so stuffed after wolfing down the party in milliseconds time and time again, that she was last seen practicing aerobics and learning zumba.....

I actually ended up downloading the respec mod yesterday and I had a complete rethink. My casual runs had always seen Morrigan built for maximum nukage, with little attention to crowd control. I respecced her, and gave her Glyph of Paralysis, Paralyse and Crushing Prison. I also maxed out Alistair's Templar specialisation.

This made a massive difference to combat, as now I just lock spellcasters in place whenever I encounter them, and they're no longer the big issue they once were. The combat is now beginning to feel much more fluid and natural, and I no loger go into panic mode every time I encounter a Mage, or those nasty Emissary guys. I even took down the dragon on the mountaintop without too many issues.

Live and learn I guess.

It took me a year before I could play on Normal regularly. It all depends on your gaming style. Not everyone has to feel they thoroughly enjoyed and beaten a game by seeing how well they fare against the AI.

Yeah same here man, I started off on the hardest difficulty but had to turn it down to the easiest while I was still in the tutorial area. What can I say, BioWare were bad mother****ers when it comes to difficulty. Some day I'll replay the games on the hardest. Some day.
