So no, nothing wrong with you playing on easy - I do it from time to time, as told. It is your game - you're allowed to play it any way you like. Just like you're allowed to choose any dialogues and any characters in the game. Don't want to have Sten in your party - you're free not to. Want to have Leliana in your party....great...

I never understood why people thought Draconis was difficult; they all claim he's more difficult than his father but I find it to be the other way around. Odd.

This is like group therapy.
Hi my name is Trista. I play DA and DA2 on easy.
*collective* Hello Trista. Welcome.
Most games that aren't focused on combat I play on easy. Screw spending ten minutes on a battle, I've got a world to save.

I often play games on easy though some games I go for normal (and it can get irritating to keep on telling a game (such as Kingdom of Amular) that I don't want to switch to casual just because I've died a few times...)

I play on Normal about 85-90% of the time, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'll ratchet the difficulty down if a particular battle is kicking me in the quad (the damn caravan quest with the boss-caliber mage on the hill gets me every time).

I don't see the point in setting the difficulty high and just raging and not enjoying the game.
After all, games are meant to be enjoyed.

My first few playthroughs of Origin were all on Easy. I'm not a particularly skilled tactical gamer, and probably am nowhere near as good as other people on this forum. My first ever playthough on easy was a pretty tough, and I had quite a few party wipes as I slowly taught myself how to play, and how to equip/build my companions. I've always been more interested in the story and RPG aspects than in min/maxing everything.
Having said that I've just started a new playthrough this week, and am trying the game on Normal skill. So far I'm doing ok, though I have to play far more cautiously, and pay a lot more attention to combat and positioning... no more merrily rushing into a group of enemies and spamming spells with wild abandon!
I always do the DLC missions first, followed by the main quests, starting with Broken Circle. The thing I've struggled with the most (so far) is the Revenant that is summoned when activating the broken statue in the Mages Circle... I found that fight to be absolutely brutal! Uldred felt quite easy by comparison. I'm kind-of dreading Morrigan's quest, as I always found that one really tough, even on easy.
I remember reading some posts on this forum from a guy who constantly claimed Origins was 'ridiculously easy', even on the hardest skill level. I can only assume that such people are absolute hardcore professional competitive gamers with years of experience and lightning-fast twitch reflexes; who spend hours pouring over spreadsheets, and stat comparison charts.

Dragon Age is the type of game that's ridiculously easy if you know it all already and take the time to get your build right and use all the right gear. If you play it "naturally", it's a heck of a lot harder.
It's also more tactical than most RPGs these days. Not nearly as much as in the "good old days", but it was still bound to catch more than a few people offguard.

Do you all hate me? I can't play on anything but easy, it hurts my brain.
Why care? I play on casual the majority of the time. I enjoy playing without the stress. After a few years I move on to normal. I really don't care what anyone thinks about it.

I guess you're right, though I suspect I'm not using the right build or gear as I always prefer to choose stuff that I personally find cool or fun, rather than min/maxing. Obviously there's nothing wrong with having such a mindset... but it does mean that I was finding my first playthrough on Normal to be very, very tough in places.
I was having big problems in particular when facing spellcasters - As a case to point, the Blood Mage leader in the abandoned building in Denerim kicked my ass so hard that my Warden and his chums ended up hurled bodily out of Thedas and landing somewhere on the Elcor homeworld! Flemeth was so stuffed after wolfing down the party in milliseconds time and time again, that she was last seen practicing aerobics and learning zumba.....
I actually ended up downloading the respec mod yesterday and I had a complete rethink. My casual runs had always seen Morrigan built for maximum nukage, with little attention to crowd control. I respecced her, and gave her Glyph of Paralysis, Paralyse and Crushing Prison. I also maxed out Alistair's Templar specialisation.
This made a massive difference to combat, as now I just lock spellcasters in place whenever I encounter them, and they're no longer the big issue they once were. The combat is now beginning to feel much more fluid and natural, and I no loger go into panic mode every time I encounter a Mage, or those nasty Emissary guys. I even took down the dragon on the mountaintop without too many issues.
Live and learn I guess.
