i just finished playing mass effect 2 all the way through, done absolutely everything and some how tali still died! it makes no sense what so ever!! i don't understand, its stupid. how could she have died, i picked everyone for the right places in the mission, everyones loyalty was full, got all the ship upgrades and she still died! could there be anything i've missed or what?

I had this problem with Mordin, in the end I took Tali and Mordin into the final battle with the human reaper and everyone survived. It took me a few goes of the collector mission to get all my party to survive the suicide mission though!

Tali is one of the first on the list to die if she's in the Hold The Line team and that team doesn't have a high enough 'fighting score' (can't recall the right term ATM). OP, exactly who was doing what at each point of the final mission and at what point did Tali curl her toes up?

Use Tali to escort the crew back to the ship.

Usually send Mordin back myself. I sometimes like to have Tali around to flick combat drones at Harbinger in the hope that it really annoys him.

All of your mates can survive if you delegate correctly. You have to have all your damage dealers at the end to hold the line. Choose Mordin or Thane as escort as long as they are loyal. Take your weakest remaining loyal squad mates to finish the reaper. Usually Tali and Jack or Legion or Miranda or Mordin. Garrus or Jacob have to lead the other missions and they have to be loyal. Its my understanding too many disloyal mates bring down your defense rating and then some will die.
