It's N7 so I figure it might be, but wanted to check before I used it. I only have the first version.

It's the best assault rifle IMO, it does good damage per shot but it's a headshot only type weapon to be used effectively.

It's fun to use, but in all honesty there's no reason to use it over the Carnifex.

Oh, and the Mattock has a higher damage per second than the Saber.

I enjoy it a lot on my Turian Sentinel, as they have the AR weight reduction to help with my abilities. But on classes like Adepts or Engineers I'd say Carnifex is still better, not a massive damage difference while being a lot lighter. Saber feels a lot more beastily while firing though.

Should probably mention I'm going to try it with the Carnifex (obv) on my Salarian Engineer, and I'll be on gold.

It's only downside is its weight. The reload time is ok. I like it but wouldn't recommend it for Gold.

First mistake is using two weapons. Only use the carnifex if you have it at least level 2 or 3. The weight will slow up your power usage by a ton. Use incinerate alot with headshots from the pistol right after.

I usually use one, but I see the Sabers weight now. I'll stick with one or the other.

I'd suggest just the pistol with extended clip and barrel. It does fairly well with an eight round magazine. The Saber is good if you have it upgraded a little, at least level 2 for gold

It's just a heavier, scopeless version of the viper. Plus the carnifex beats both in damage, fire rate, and weight.

I wanted to like it but I have stopped using it completely.

I only have the Saber II but I rock it pretty good on GOLD with my Justicar who has 30% AR reduction bonus. It does as much damage as my Paladin II and more than my Carnifex IV, though is heavier than both, but I can hit targets at greater distance with more reliability, even without the scope mod. I have both the pierce V and barrel V mods on it. It has more shots per clip and larger magazine than the Paladin so the weight is worth it, plus it's one of the coolest sounding guns in the game. It goes off like a canon.

yes it is...if you aim well and have the right upgrades + a high level saber, you can take care of fodder troops in 2-4 shots

At level II, my Saber does more damage than my Carnifex IV and as much as my Paladin II, when all modded the same.  The fire rate of the Saber is about the same as the Carnifex/Paladin so that point is moot.  While weighing more, the base clip/magazine is bigger than both at the same levels.

It's a decent weapon, especially on a Human Soldier.....but it's super heavy and the lighter Paladin still deals more damage. It holds a good chunk of ammo, though. It's not that it's a bad weapon; it's just that heavy-hitting pistols are better.

It's basically a Paladin with double the weight. If that sounds appealing to you, go for it.

I was underwhelmed at the thing TBH. It's like it wants to be a direct upgrade to the Mattock, but at the moment it's a direct downgrade. The rate of fire is pathetic and I can't kill anything other than a Husk with a cloaked bodyshot on a GI, on BRONZE. This is surely a headshot weapon, which makes it all the more crappier because a headshot weapon either needs a more powerful scope like single shot sniper rifles, or in the case of a weaker scoped weapon, it needs a high rate of fire and thus DPS to make misses more forgiving.

After comparing the Saber on my lvl 1 Turian Soldier and then playing a Silver game with a lvl 5 Human Soldier using the Mattock, I can confidently say that the Mattock is an upgrade in every way. The Paladin would be a better choice for a Turian Soldier.

The smaller magazine size doesn't bother me because the reload duration is half that of the Saber and the weight means I can use Marksman more often.

Want to snipe with headshots? Use a sniper rifle. I actually like the Incisor over this piece of crap. Actually looking at the DPS of the two pre-patch, the Saber is only SLIGHTLY above the Incisor in raw DPS. Given that the Incisor is likely at X rank while the Saber is III or below, and considering the recent damage buff the Incisor got with the patch, the Incisor is officially better than the Saber in every way aside from recoil. It's lighter, the scope is more powerful, and it has a higher DPS that makes landing bodyshots rather than headshots more forgiving. But you will be getting more headshots with the Incisor, again because the scope is more powerful.

Levelled up, for sure. Good luck with that though.
