It's the perfect weapon for a human soldier. Thanks to adrenaline rush you'll never have to reload and you get increased damage. I only have it at level one and it ripped through brutes and banshees on gold.
Pretty much this.
But it takes damn good hand-eye to be good with it.
Recoil is a non-issue, I've used it for so long that my mouse hand moves the necessary way to compensate for the recoil following a shot without me having to think about it.

Its a good rifle for gold. Anyone who says different doesn't know what they're doing.
Or they said it months ago before the gun got a massive buff and before this thread was necro'd.

You are right. I do love play with the M99-Saber, especially with the Turian sentinel, for less recoil and more damage. At level ten is a pretty good weapon. With some gear on, you can kill most of the light targets with one headshot and a few others with two.GJ88 wrote...

And another thing, the weapon is important, but far more important is what the player can do with that weapon.
For example: Yesterday, me and 3 friends make a U/U/G with nothing but the common weapons (Katana, Mantis, Avenger, etc.), and we make a full extraction using minimum consumables (just rockets for killstreaks at wave 11 – total score 475k+ XP - 74,9k credits - less then 22 minutes). Detail: No one playing with level 20.

It's got almost identical damage to the paladin, but it has an 8 shot clip versus 3 for the paladin. It's also got more spare ammo. The only downside is the weight, it's not a good option if you're playing a biotic or tech spam class.

Saber's characteristics makes it similar to sniper rifles without built-in scope. This might actually appeal to some people like me, who can't aim for **** with a scope. Unfortunately Paladin is roughly identical in everything except for clip size, all the while being lighter.
Nerf Paladin.

Opinions of the saber are generally based on how consistently people can headshot with it. Those who can, love the gun. Those who can't, hate it.
That's probably why the gun gets so many derp responses of "durrr aim 4 dah head!" I always wonder what those people are thinking. Did they assume everyone else aims for the feet? Wow, basic game mechanics in a response to a debate about an ultra-rare weapons. What next, "click the left mouse button to fire"?
.. <sigh> Sorry, they just really annoy me.

Hurricane is greater than all weapons on a power class.

Hurricane is pretty unbalanced. Super light, highest DPS in the game and requires little aim. That is all I have to say.

I have to admit I have a really hard time making myself not aim for centre of mass (in any game). I rarely get above the 5 headshot medal.Rifneno wrote...

Just because you aim for the head doesn't mean you can hit it. That was my point. People who are accurate don't have a problem with the saber; it's a weapon that requires you to hit headshots more often than not to be truly effective.

My Saber VII gives me a 150% cooldown bonus on my Asari Justicar. Not bad at all.

It's a even better than the Harrier if you can pull off headshots consistently. No units that can be headshotted can stop you. You can probably take on 4-6 Assault Troopers at once and win, or 2 Phantoms.
I'd say the Harrier is better if you want to clean trash mobs.
On topic, the Saber is pretty good. I use it on my Batarian Soldier, with EB+Extended Mag, and AP ammo, it rips through Reapers and is great against the other factions.
