I like it on the Quarksman. As far as best assault rifle, no--that's the Harrier.
saber is solid
It's N7 so I figure it might be, but wanted to check before I used it. I only have the first version.
Even a Saber I does it's job nicely, but you've to mentalize yourself it's more of a sniper rifle or a mid-range assault rifle than anything close-quarters. If you ever get into close quarters Saber in hand, it's best to create some space between you and the target (TGI's jet boots are a perfect example of that), then kill it rather than waste shots aimlessly hoping to hit it.
Other than that, aim for headshots and you'll basically one/twoshoot enemies up to Marauders, Collector Captains, Dragoons (if you can aim at them....damn they're annoying), Bombers and Pyros.
I'm not even gonna pretend it's better than the Harrier, but in the right hands your teammates may even be like "WTF you don't leave anything for me!" ![]()

Oh? The saber is accurate enough at close range, and can be hip fired without losing any damage, so close shots shouldn't be a problem. It's a little less forgiving if you miss I suppose, but with a little more practice that shouldn't be a problem.
....well, I use a Thermal Scope... ![]()
But without it I guess what you say can be applied.
I treat it like a sniper rifle and keep an SMG as backup (mostly use it with the FQI and basic human infiltrator)
It's a good weapon, really good on great head shooters of which I am not. I do like the feel of the gun and the sound.
Saber is trash.
It's especially terrible on Turian Soldier.
Indeed. Marksman rifle, perhaps. But the AR category seems to have been designated as the catchall group for stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else. I'm looking at you, M-37 Falcon, and you, Striker, and you N7 Typhoon, and you....! Wait a minute!! The AR category has hardly any actual assault rifles in it.
Nothing wrong with Saber at close quarters. L2play scrubs.
If you've a Thermal Scope equipped, there are lots of wrong, especially at point-black. Especially against annoyances like husks.
Anyway, that's nothing you can't solve with a quick jet-boot jump.

Hitscan guns are always point blank...

But against a husk in your face, you can't compare a Thermal Scoped' Saber (or some other sniper rifles, for what is worth) with, say, a single Piranha shot. It's obvious which one of the two will have less problems dealing with that.
Personally, I think it's way more quick and simple to just jump to position yourself in middle-range, align your shot and take the damn thing' head off rather than try to shoot it at point-black like crazy.
Kishock...

I was just letting you know that "point blank" and "in your face" are two very different things. Point blank is the range at which your gun is sighted in for, and in the case of hitscan weapons there is no elevation drop so all hitscan weapons are point blank at all times.

Ah, my bad then. I believed "point-black" was a extremely close-combat encounter. Crappy translators...
If you have thermal scope equipped, your mistake is that you have thermal scope equipped. Also, why don't you just hipfire?
My mistake? I don't get killed by close combat encounters, mind you. As I've already said at least two times, I have my own way of managing them. But that's the thing about not reading what other people post, right?
And I don't hipfire because I think my method is more effective. For me, at least.

You don't manage close combat encounters, you avoid them. And of course you don't get killed in CQC if you use TGI and are in the habit of jet boosting away. You only die after you've jumped away.
And obviously your method is more effective for you. That's because you can't shoot.
It's an assault rifle, and all ARs are great enough. End of topic.
When I first got this weapon finally maxed and finally started using it more, I was pretty disappointed in it. But after a couple more goes with it, it's pretty fun. Last few tries I used it was on my fave kit, the Geth Engineer, and it worked really great on him with Overload for max shield dmg + higher fire rate of Hunter Mode. I should technically fall in love with it even more since I a big enough fan of sniping, accurate weapons, and ARs. To which this weapon combines all three.

That's because it is used that way in forensics and pop culture.
It's a murderous weapon, just brutally powerful and I'm a surgeon with it. Sabre and Paladin were the first UR I maxed and it was hard to quit either of them.
It's essentailly a Turian weapon, the passive stability makes it a freakin laser even from the hip. I also run it on the GI, GE and Trooper, the RoF bump is seriously unfair. It's hit scan with sniper power so the proc rate is way up there, so great for power spammers. Just rock one of the 175 power effiency module III's.
Honestly though, it's not so much a high skill weapon as it is a patience/affinity. Once you get it, you won't put it down.

You're a so obvious (the T word) and unfunny that I think I'm gonna ignore you. thxbye.

No wonder it's a favourite result in Google searches D:
