My wish: A proper patch policy that commits BioWare to fix bugs whenever they are found. Such a policy is absent now and instead of fixing the bugs they rather ignore them instead of fixing them.

I agree with two points :

Have spcializations mean something. If I go blood mage, that should have an impact seeing as how everyone is like "omg blood magic is bad!". Whether it's losing approval from certain party members or people being less or unwilling to deal with you, it needs to have weight behind the decision.

I also like the suggestion earlier that someone made about my party talking to me about meaningful events. Heck, I talk to them all, carry their problems, listen to their wishes and deams, their fears and uncertainties, yet when I kill Arl Howe the man who killed my family ... I get nothing. Not even a stern lecture from Wynne about vengence, not even a pat on the back (or a hug) from Alistair, or a nod of approval from Zevran.

Since the ages span a century, and only recently the darkspawn has been halted or purged, Dragon Age 2 should start at least 20-30 years after. However the ending of the game seems to indicate a lot of different things that were changed by Origins so maybe we are looking at a very direct sequel like 2-5 years after Origins. Nothing wrong with that it's just that with that short a time span, most of the characters we knew from Origins would not have had time to adjust to the new social and political changes.

ex. Alistair as King - Would he be the passionate and idealist/naive as he was in Origins? Would he institute some changes to the City Elf situation? Exert influence on the Chantry and how mages are handled? In 2-5 years doesn't seem like it would be enough time to settle in.

I would like to see the move away from the darkspawn here for just a while. If the sequel in based 2-5 years after Origins, I would like to see how other lands are doing. This would open up different origin stories. How different places handle mages, or maybe you can start out as an assassin from Antiva. Also in different lands, you could have a larger variety of classes, ones that aren't present in the Ferelden. Other places might not have templars and we could get our classical Clerics and Paladins. Of course those might not exist either because the Chantry might not exist there.

The story has pretty clearly stated that the Qunari will likely invade Ferelden so that is a great arc to follow. Not all the sequels of Dragon Age need to be about killing darkspawn at its core.

Gameplay wise, I would like to implore Bioware to offer PC interface to the consoles. Both the 360 and PS3 has a mini keyboard attachment available for their controllers on the market already. Any fan of this game will be will to purchase an accessory that could allow them to have a more strategic experience in combat than what we currently have. An over the shoulder view looks great but the vantage point limits what we can see.

Or better yet, talk with MS and Sony and get them to offer a keyboard and mouse interface. There is definitely a market.

I think talents for weapons types need to be updated and/or expanded. Single handed weapon skills need to be explored. I would like to see some weapons come back like polearms come back to RPGs.

Like also to look at some of the existing specializations, ie Shapeshifter. The ability to shapeshift is nice but requiring cast time makes those talents near useless (or perhaps the usefulness is simply beyond my comprehension, and I apologize for that). I think Arcane Warrior was a way to offer mage class a non-mage specialization. Perhaps Arcane warrior type might be better separated into a different class - like hybrid classes.

As I mentioned before, moving to a different land opens up a lot of options. Perhaps in this new land, magic is not prohibited but embraced by the general public. A different processed lyrium could be used by almost anyone to catalyze magic abilities. So you could have Arcane Archers firing magic arrows. This could lead to more hybrid classes where you could really have an Arcane Warrior that could be self buffing warrior at its base. Of course for balance sake, everyone that uses this lyrium will have a default lowered magic resistance since the lyrium in their body is making them absorb magic easier. Or vice versa, have a magic resistant character class, where they have uncanny magic resistance but in trade off is any magic item they use or equip will have diminished effect.

Would be happy enough just to have some Baldur's Gate character classes and specializations recycled, loved that kensai warrior, and of course a monk class. Who wouldn't love to beat your foes down with your bare hands. Hmm those unique death kills would be so cool for a monk.

I agree that I would like the other characters to comment on my life, my origin, and especially if some part of my former life, like say a former dalish elf I may have been in love with shows up tainted in camp, I want my friends who supposedly care about me to comment and ask if I am ok and try to cheer me up for a change. I had to kill that guy and for everyone else it was business as usual. WTH!

I want the NPC's to be friends and lovers for my pc not just me being a sounding board for their angst, let them heal my angst.

And specalizations should mean something AListair and Wynne should despise me as a blood mage and Zevran should be excited or jealous of the fact that I am a way better Assassin than he is, at least a "lets compare battle scars" dialogue.

- Make specilisations more meaningful to the story.

- Build on the approval rating of the party. A good leader not only makes sure his group follows him, but he also makes sure the group is cohesive and united. In other words, party members should be able to kill each other if we can't settle the dispute or if we favor one over the other.

- More companion options. Make it so that we can't recruit all of them, it would depend on decisions / actions / specialisation.

- I have always hated the idea of having half the party sit at camp and do nothing. At least give us the impression that they are doing something, like scouting for info, attacking from another side...etc

- Shapeshifter ability to turn into a drake or small dragon.

- Add a new fighting branch, dagger in one hand and a small crossbow in the other. Only for rogues.

- More and better looking clothes for the rogue. Including hood and mask.

- Same with the mage.

It's probably my favorite part of this game.

Push it in the direction of Oblivion or Fallout 3--less linearity. The linearity of Mass Effect also disappointed me. I don't think this would change the flavour of the game, but it would certainly improve the replayability.

Spec's meaning something - it's stupid Wynne has no qualm about you becoming a blood mage..nor Leliana.

Weapon scaling - most handles are far too big and would be knocked out of our hand because you didn't/couldn't get a good grip on them. Some bows are way too fat. no strings. etc.

Helm Toggle - I can deal with ugly helms..but give me the option to not have ot look at them without someone having to hack the game.

Random loot variety - loot in the game is essentially boring..and serve as nothing but vendor trash. What's up with finding cool looking weapons/shields only to have them have no stats or bonuses and therefore be useless because by the time you find them you have much better things...which ends up making all plays have you looking the same overall.

Re-work skill/talents - tactic slots should NOT waste a point. That's lazy design. And there are too few to choose from. Fighters/Rogues sharing weapon talents is all fine and good but at least distinguish them from one-another...rogue dw should have slightly diff things then warrior DW (same with archery)

Larger Party - I've always hated this...I understand the "gameplay/balance" reasoning (who'd want to micro-manage 10 party members) but (as said) it makes no sense that you're racing to save the world, unite fereldan and destroy the darkspawn Blight....but you leave over half your characters greasing their bronto's in camp.

Companion Customization - DO NOT AUTO LEVEL A FOLLOWER...fine give them some basic starting stuff (like Sten 2h, Oghren 2h, Alist sword/shield) but don't auto level them when I get them..let ME customize them so I can...y'know..have more variety.

Dog/animal companion - The dog is great. But per his story/history/whatever he shouldn't count towards the 4 party limit..it really doesn't make sense to do that...the dog is imprinted on you...loyal..and follows you regardless...he shouldn't take up a space. So don't bother with another companion like the dog at all if he's gonna take up a space..because overall you end up missing out on too much...unless all you do is backtrack to an area to have him search for things after you've cleared it.

Refine Tactics - my biggest gripe with tactics besides wasting points to get more slots due to lazy design (sorry bio..love ya..but it is lazy and makes no sense as you only get a benefit from it if you're NOT controlling the character). But also something as simple as not being able to set a healer to Revive a fallen comrade upon death..the fact that "status" is missing from the menu is just idiotic.

Sustains/Summons REALLY persistant - No more Rally turning off on zone change..or summons disappearing...or Momentum turning off on it's own (if your stamina get's too low you just shouldn't be able to do anything else)

Cutscene auto-positioning - this is just arrogant...I see a group of baddies ahead..but they want to Parley...so I tell my team to hold and/or position them certain ways...but then talking to a chatty enemy npc auto-positions them in a herd ripe for the picking..sorry NO..stop it.

That's all I can think of lol

People are listing more than one thing..naughty naughty.

The character not being tied down to a "Special Organization" or Fate would be nice. Ability to join special organizations and such I wouldn't mind, but I'd like it to be a choice of some sort (either origin or story wise).

Cutscene epilogues instead of text boxes for the main characters.

(That's my biggest one... but what others have said about having the characters respond more to in-game events as they happen would be awesome too.)

If I could change only one thing I would make lockpicking a skill and not a talent... it breaks my heart every time as a mage or warrior early on in the game all the things I can't open.. and even when you get a "rogue" in your party with Daveth, he doesn't have it either... I swear all he's good for is watching my backside... which he could totally do AND pick locks!

Make it so at the end I get to click on my dog! I can't believe after getting to say to my dog tha "I'll be back boy" at the goodbye scenes at the gate of Denerim that at the end the dog is the only party member you don't get to have some sort of goodbye with....! No metion of the dog in the final writings either...very dissapponinted there.

What I would change...

Story-wise: the Landsmeet, especially Alistair taking his football and going home, is a major level-breaker.

Mechanics-wise: As previously mentioned by everybody in this thread, the lack of in-story impact - and the relative uselessness - of many of the specializations were a lost opportunity. Also, the loot system is garbage, and the skill/attribute/talent balance is pretty wonky. Finally, I would have liked to see an increased party size...obviously, that would require incresing the overall difficulty of the game, but the 4 man band is very limiting, I think.

Technical-wise: I've never been very satisfied with the camera, but this may just be a personal quirk of mine, because I've seen few others complain about it.

And that's it really. I'd say that's pretty damn good on Bio-Ware's part.

I prefer the text boxes.  Well honestly I would prefer text boxes plus narration, because the narrated endings of Fallout and Fallout 2 were much better than simple text would have been.  I enjoyed the Fallout-like ending where it went over various groups and people I'd had an effect on and detailed what happened to them.  Cutscenes just can't go into that level of detail, so we get something cool for a moment, but we don't really know what happens to everything.  Plus they wouldn't be able to go into such detail about so many different things and people, since cutscenes take a lot longer to make.

I really hope they give us the ability to reuse our characters in DA2, and not have to start over from scratch. I want to be able to reunite with Morrigan.

I think that's what I'm going to be spending my time on as soon as the full campaign fileset is released with the new toolset. I'm going to remake the game the way I think it should have gone, and not let it just end after the coronation.

- I agree with everyone above who said they would like to make specializations play a bigger part in the story. It's just kind of odd when I'm specced as a blood mage and not one NPC says anything about it. I mean I can go around stealing and get badmouthed because I'm doing that, but really, bood magic. It's like everyone in Fereldan abhors it and yet no one seems to notice when you're using it nonstop.

- The attribute/talent system is kind of screwy, and some abilities in game are just way too overpowered while others are completely useless. That definitely needs to be updated.

- It's very difficult/unrewarding to play a more "evil" character. I understand that they're trying to make the game less black and white, but regardless there are many options throughout the game that could be considered either really good or really terrible. It's just when you choose the really terrible option you usually don't get rewarded for it. I'd like to see more effort put into the evil side of Dragon Age.

And how about a decent romance male romance interest?

Some sort of "zone of control" for warriors. I know you can use taunt to try and control the battlefield but I'm micromanaging enough. If this wants to be a tactical game then you can't have bad guys run down a hallway past 3 warriors in a line to all wail on the mage. Warriors should exert some sort of gravity on bad guys to make "front line" mean a lot more than it does now.
