So, every time I try to run the patch file, it tells me that Dragon age Origins isn't on my PC and to reinstall it...
But the game is on my pc and running properly. If I open it, and run the patch, it claims I need to close the program first, so it recognizes it then.
I did move it to my backup hard drive to give myself more room. Do I need to move it to a specific folder/under a specific name for the patch file to recognize it and patch?

You moved the game to a different hard drive... after it had been installed on your PC?
If so, then the registry keys associated with the game are still pointing to the old directory, which means that's where the patch is looking.
Best solution is to back up your characters, uninstall the game (manually deleting the moved files), rebooting, and reinstalling to whatever location you want. Then try applying patch 1.05.
