I'm in the same boat as OP, with a few minor differences.

I've gotten over how terrible the ending is. I've been playing Skyrim to take the edge off, and it's done wonders. I'll always remember how great Mass Effect was for the first two games, and how it fell flat on it's face in the final minutes. In fact, if not for Tuchanka and Rannoch, I would consider ME3 to be my least favorite game of the series. I don't know, it still might be.

I'll get the Extended Cut when it comes out and make any final decisions there. This is BioWare's chance to save their franchise. If it's still not done right, well... I'll try to remember the good things about Mass Effect.

Perhaps the most tragic part (at least for me) is that BioWare lost my trust. I bought blindly from them because I knew I could always count on them to make really great games. While I did not like Dragon Age II, I forgave them for it because I thought Mass Effect 3 would make up for it. Sadly, I can't say that it did...

I'm not saying that I'll never purchase another BioWare game again. I don't know what they'll come up with in the future, but I'll certainly never pre-order a game from them again. I've learned that reading a few fan reviews beforehand can make all the difference in the world.

This, well except I won't buy any more BW games until they have earned my trust again. Let's see what the extended cut brings .. but I stopped feeling this pure rage I felt in the beginning. It's just apathy now and that's even worse because they made me stop caring for ME.

The "question" that still needs to be answered in ME3 for everyone who cares about the story is what the hell just happened? really? with no theories no speculation, no space magic, they can use sci-fi to make sense, facts information tell us the story, show us how the end that makes sense. Show us the end, because people didn't get the joke you told in the last 10 minutes Bioware.

I wish I could get over it, but unanswered questions have to be answered.

You'll probably get real answers at some point in the future.  But just as likely, I doubt we get real reliable answers any time soon. Three years from now? Yeah, probably, but not in time for you to care.

At some point like many of us you'll probably come to the conclusion that OK, its nothing special any more - its just a game with some good points and a really horrid bad point.  Its specialness wears off along with the emotional connection.  This is a healthy thing I think.

Its just not all that often where you get something like the Lord of the Rings movies, where they meet most people's most awesome expectations and actually exceed them.  The Mass Effect series had a shot for true greatness, but it fell far short, right at the very end. Really, there's really not that much more to say about it.
