Well...

Mass Effect 3 has kind of made me personally despondent and crestfallen. I find solace in all the memes and jokes that have evolved in response to the endings, but the truth is that one of my favorite series just kind of fell apart before my very eyes. A few months ago, I would have been shocked to hear myself say so, but there you go.

I don't wish the folks at BioWare ill, and I know they worked hard on the game, but on a purely personal level, no, I don't want a game that made me so miserable to win GOTY.

I think it should be nominated at least. Whether it actually deserves it, well there's other games coming out this year that have so far have shown some nice caliber so its up to the competition.

if they fix the plot problems, sure. if not, no.

With all of the upcoming competition for them, i doubt ME3 will win

I would think there would be zero chance given the public backlash over the ending. After all, the EA ad said this is the biggest reaction to the ending of a game ever. I don't think the reaction was postive.

I know that's an opinion and all, and I am also frustrated with EA more often than not.  That being said, worst company in America?  Like of all the companies in America?  I can surely think of a number that are far worse in my opinion.

http://consumerist.c...a-for-2012.html

Actually it's a fact that EA was recently voted the worst company in America.  "Worst" is ultimately an opinion of course, but it's an opinion shared by most of the people who voted.

I really don't want to sound like I'm defending EA's here, and that was an Interesting article.  It certainly does bring up some of the dirty tactics EA likes to employ, but I dunno I just feel like it is making a bit of a leap to say they are the absolute worst.  This again comes back to the opinion thing so I'm not going to try and press that mine is somehow more valid.  On the contrary it sure does speak volumes to look at the number of people who made that vote.

I'm getting a bit off topic though, so in regards to the OP no I do not feel ME3 should be given GOTY at this time (and that's not likely to change)

I can't give it such support no. Hoping Bioshock Infinite takes the title this year. If it is as good as it looks.

Potentially. It will depend largely on how Bioshock Infinite, Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4, and the Witcher 2 turn out. I'm curious, to say the least.

All else equal, you have a 20% chance, Il Divo... Posted Image

I've had worse odds. Luckily, I keep my d20 close at hand.

Its quite soon to say they deserve the Game of the Year Award, but at least, they have to be nominated of course.

Skyrim and The Witcher 2 will be hard rivals.

That being said, at current I do not believe it should be game of the year.  I also have taken a break from playing cause I feel disconnected from my Shep.  After I finally complete the game i'll have a more definite opnion on the matter.  Just my .02

Actualy that was a vote from a real contest

http://consumerist.c...a-for-2012.html

If i think that is correct ? no, Different from the BoA, EA hasn't destroyed lives and i think the vote made by ppl was not right and missguided somehow, but defnetly we can all agree that EA has become more of a cancer then a actual company and that bioware is following its downfall.

The year is still young, ME3 isn't in a good position to be my GOTY but I see no point in declaring it a winner or a looser while there's 8 months to go.

Mass Effect 3 will be voted "Game of the Year" by people who assume the ending is the only problem with it and therefore don't want to "give in" to fan backlash.

The ending is the worst part sure, but there are plenty of huge flaws with the game as a whole which left it massively disappointing and in many ways a technical failiure, so no, I really don't think it should be on anyone's Game of the Year list.

Well me3 was a good game, minus the bugs and glitches and the horrid ending... It still had a solid emotional storyline (until the end). Seeing how their false advertisement ploys and the way they "handle" their forums I don't think they deserve to even be on the list. They screwed up, gave us a rushed product. They hide behind the term "artistic Intergrity" They aren't even using it correctly. They claim they listen but they aren't. They shouldn't get any award what so ever. If me3 had more elements from the first 2 and it had an ok ending id want it nominated.

Hell no. Let a game that actually deserves it get the title. Any site that gives it ANYTHING 'of the Year' short of 'Biggest Letdown' should lose its merits.

ME3 does not deserve any awards after betraying its fans by focusing on rushing the completion of the game at all costs and gouging the consumer for content that was already ON DISK, don't believe me, google it.

And that's not even mentioning the whole "the last mission and ending was so bad it made me cry" part...

Basically this and for telling everyone who didn't like the ending to deal with it.

ME3 would easily win "Most disappointing game ending of 2012" tho.

Not yet.  Maybe later.  You know, after they CHANGE  the endings, instead of elaborate on them.

The only competition so far is Kingdom of Alamur, which I haven't played. So I'd say yea until Max Payne comes out, or if the Witcher 2 can be counted twice.

-Dont worry. It will go down in history as a shiny example of how not to:

1) Write a story.

2) Disregard your fanbase till it gets Irate and then continue.

3) Engegage PR and spin reps against your loyal fanbase.

4) Handle consumer wishes.

Plenty more examples but those are the ones that stand out.

I would really want you not to be right about those bullet points, unfortunately you are.

At least we now know the Report-button hasn't been working (see sig) and that PM is the way to go, so maybe there will be a real possibility of getting rid of trolls and having a meaningful discussion of things gone wrong in the future?

If the other games turn out to be crap, ie. Max Payne, Ghost Recon, Halo 4, Bioshock, Assasins Creed. ME3 could still be a GOTY for me.

Why do people keep forgetting that Skyrim was GOTY last year? And Witcher 2 I doubt it will be eligible.

ME3 being the best game of the year was what I hoped before playing it, so in that regard I wish ME3 to be GOTY. But as it really is, with numerous annoying bugs, watered down role playing part, horrible ending, side quest journal useless, boring side quests, no exploration, still nerfed squadmates to force player to play the game Gear of War like instead of a more RPG fashion, etcs... No, I don't wants it anymore.
