AHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHH no. The game was a mess. Most of the quests were planet scanning, despite how many people hated that in ME2 (NOW ITS EVEN WORSE), the horrible plot, the journal, auto dialogue, and of course, that ending.

So the characters' conclusions, awesome gameplay, cinematic style, the fact that the game is mecanically superior to both ME and ME2 combined, Tuchanka, Rannoch, Grunt's moment, the way you stick it to Kai Leng, all those awesome moments ~ they don't count?

The cinematic style was only there to force actions upon us.
I don't care which one is mecanically superior, i care about the story.
Thing is the Tuchanka arc and Rannoch arc were the only good parts in the game (Grunts mission was a failure because no matter what you did in ME1 with the rachni, they were still there).
The rest of the game was built out of weak plots, bad writing, trown away potential,...(i can go on)

So no i don't think that ME3 deserves a GOTY, not even by a longshot.

If I want to watch a Michael Bay movie, I'll watch a goddamn Michael Bay movie. I play video games to, you know, play them.
The whole Kai Leng thing would have been better if they hadn't tried to turn him into a ... futuristic ninja ... seriously ... no swords in Mass Effect, I have Skyrim for that...

Who said they don't count? The negatives just far outweigh the positives.

You can't give GOTY to a game that is so glaringly flawed, period.
Even more so when the flaw goes against the game's important traits, or themes.

If there aren't any better RPGs this year than ME3, I'd rather the RPG slot in GOTY stays vacant.

If ME3 makes GOTY then I will lose all hope in the concept of GOTY

Bioware needs to earn it, even without the ending problems. This is still a lazy game.
Too many compromises made in its development, so much of the cut content was what could made this a much better product.

ME3 serves only as the ending to a trilogy, but fails to capture most of the wonder of the last 2 games. You would have had to have played the last 2 to even appriciate most of the content.

Why would you currently have hope in the concept of GOTY?

At first i was like not to sure,
but now with the recent free rebellon "dlc" i totally have to say YES

The fact that the new objective "recovery data:object" looks like the ghostbusters proton pack makes me all geek inside with the god joy of a nerd.everytime that wave becomes, i always go with "who you ganna call"

Sweet Jeebus, I just checked the list for upcoming releases for 2012, truly abysmal,...

Seriously, the competition is just so unbelievably bad that it may be actually possible that ME3 is going to become GOTY by outhobbling all the other cripples that compete in this race of meagerness. When it comes to video games, this year is downright shameful.

(The only two good games that were released this year are Legend of Grimrock and Max Payne 3, Grimrock unfortunately is just a small indie-game and MP3 won't achieve GOTY-status either)

Hmm, never played Ghost Recon...

Prototype 1 was a decent game, nothing spectacular but good entertainment. The game had some flaws, but I definately got some good time out of it, though I almost became insane by trying to get all the platinum awards...

My problem with Prototype 2 is that pretty much everyone who bought that game told me, that is quite good, but essentially it's almost identical to part 1.

It deserves to be nominated, but not to win. IMO

No. All the games in 2012 suck so far. I doubt GTAV or The Last of Us will come out this year, so looks like 2012 is officially the worst year in gaming in a long time.

First off, the VGA's are crap and mean nothing.

Second, so far it is game of the year, because everything else I played this year does not come close to it. I can't predict the future though so well see what happens.

lastly, EA "winning" an arbitrary online poll means nothing, i'm sorry to say.

This year is far from over so it's hard to say if Mass Effect 3 gets the win. I definitely think it's going to get nominated but I'm curious to see how Dishonored pans out. Looks dope.

No!

1) Because the game simply sucks, not just ending, but pretty big chunk of the game is ****** poor job trying to use the success of its predecessors.

2) Because i wan't "BW" to finally get their heads out of their butts and face the reality that they are no longer able to produce quality RPGs.

I've been burned twice this year by their games (ME3 and SWTOR). Never again.
