So I romanced Liara in ME1 and then Jack in ME2.  When do their respective romance lines lock in during ME3?  Liara asks for my loyalty in the beginning but then Jack asks me during the Grissom mission.  I know I never see Jack again after this point so will I be shut out of Liara's romance if I say yes to Jack at Grissom (which would be saying "yes" to both)?

You will bump into Jack again in Purgatory, where she will attempt to break it off because she is too busy with her students and you are too busy saving the universe. You can either go along with it and end it, or tell her she's not getting rid of you that easily. That will lock you in.

Then you will go dancing, because it's more exciting than freaky biotic sex.

Yup.  The Jack romance really made me sad.

To be honest, I didn't really care that much about this part of the game before Jack, so I was looking froward to a deeper relationship.  Especially becuase Jack's arc in ME2 is very satisfying if you romance her.

So to see the way they treated her  - especially after the coolest redesign EVER - well, it really felt like a missed opportunity.

The only romance I've been impressed with is Tali. When you bump into her again for the first time in ME3 she jumps you, and then there's the "we're almost to the last missions so let's get freaky" encounter.

Of course, I'd also like to know why Liara is the only female LI that doesn't wear underwear to have sex?

And here I thought Mirandas' romance plot is bad.

You mean I must have known a lot of people who were kidnapped to be forced into a bizarre psy-ops/telekenetic program, where they were forced to fight, were given drugs and were beaten?

A lot of people that then eventually escaped, were members of pirate bands, merc-groups, and cults, were used, abused, thrown away by all but one or two other people, who then ended up dying to make sure their loved-one lived?

A lot of people that kept others at a distance as a coping mechanism because their entire lives have taught them that other people are evil, self-centered jag-offs that feign freindship or affection just to exploit whatever it is they had to offer---their bodies, their abilities, etc.---or later use them as a scapegoat or bargaining chip?

A lot of people who, after all this, found redemption on a suicide mission into an uncharted region of space, where they found somebody else that truly appreciated them for who they were instead of how they looked or what they had?

And, after all of it was over learned to trust others enough to lead their own flock, as it were?

No, can't say I knew anybody that interesting.

Wrong. There is nothing to understand. That is her personality.

Let's keep things civil, people.

@wowee Anyway, I do believe it's possible to romance both the game through, if you play your cards right. Or at least, I remember reading an older thread where the OP said they somehow ended up romancing Jack and Ashley at the same time. Some kind of glitch.

No, that is her projected personality. It is artificial construction, to keep people at a distance, because every single person she has ever known has exploited or betrayed her.

"You let someone get close, it just means they need a shorter knife."

The haircut, the tattoos, the attitude, it's a barrier to keep from getting involved in any way with anyone else beyond a vague association or "professional" relationship. The only reason she's so casual about sex is because she feels that if people aren't after her biotic abilities, then the only other thing they could possibly want from her is to get in her pants. As soon as she gives them that they'll go away and leave her alone.

Again, everything about her is only meant to further validate the preconcieved notions she has about other people, which serves to do nothing but reinforce her isolation. Proving said notions wrong allows her to (at least begin to) heal the mental and emotional wounds formed by a lifetime of abuse.

She might not be the deepest character ever, but her behaviour/appearance is pretty much consistent with survivors of pretty serious abuse.

I personally romanced Tali and she at least got back on the normandy (acting on loyalty).

But yes I think Jack deserves better honestly. Every character deserves better. :/

While that may be, Shep is out to save the galaxy. He doesn't need psychotic, untrusting murderers along with him. That's my main problem with her, is that you have to recruit her in the first place. I'd  be fine with her if I could choose to leave her on the purgatory for either
a) justice for her crimes or
B) being more trouble than she's worth.
It's pretty obvious by the time you meet her on purgatory that she's going to be trouble, regardless of how it actually turns out. The point is, the majority of what happens after you recruit her isn't relavent to my hatred for her( other than her ridiculous cameo in me3). My problem is that she is a psychopath when you meet her. That makes her as big a risk as you can take. "Meanest bundle of violence and hate"..... that's what you recruit her knowing her as, along with having a deep personal hatred for the organization you are effectively part of.

I didn't read the OP or anything other than the thread title and I am jumping purposely to a conclusion: Jack and Liara can have a romance? Sweet! That actually... is hot.
