I used the Claymore once. Only cus it's one-shot for most enemies at most ranges

I only use a few shotguns, and only as a few characters, like krogan.

Geth shotgun was useful against Brutes.
Helps me take down them and others slightly faster than a Mattock or Widow.

Suppose I just miss having all my weapons and customizing them on the fly and switching them out for better models...... here, you only at points with a weapon rack or in the shooting range I guess.... sometimes, I dunno if a weapon is good when I pick it up, and want to test it to see, but dont wish to add it right then and there because of the weight and will have to trudge to next station before I can remove it..... why I think it's a bad concept

I've used a shotgun a few times, but never for too long. I tend to use sniper rifles and submachine guns most of the time.

I didn't use them partly for that reason but mainly because I use a Sentinel with Assault Rifle and Pistol. Although I'd rather use a sniper rifle than shotgun if the weight system didn't have shotguns and sniper rifles so heavy.

I use my Reegar as a heavy weapon, ala ME2.

I like the weight system, personally. An adept shouldn't be able to carry the same loadout as a soldier.

I did as a soldier. I like to use a full arsenal when playing any of the ME games.

Always! As a soldier or infiltrator. I basically use three guns through most of the game: shotguns (the graal spike thrower or the claymore), sniper rifles (black widow or raptor) and the scorpion. Then the Falcon for the finish because it brings down brutes like no other weapon...

Can't imagine playing without my shotgun.

Oh, and BTW: during my first playthrough I cared about the weight and had only two or three weapons at any time with me until priority earth. Then I checked that carrying 5 weapons was absolutely OK, so I stuck with that forever since (and I have finished the game 4 more times now).

Not only them being -100 to -200 encumberance but, they are only really good in close range, on top of that, 3 or 4 shots before you have to take an hour to reload the dang thing.  Granted you can upgrade, but despite that fact, my load out has always been Assault Rifle and Pistol.  Main weapon and backup in case I ran out of ammo.  Not only does the assault rifle surprisingly way significantly less than the shotgun but great in all aspects of combat, if enemy gets close enough that a shotgun would be preferable, I just melee them so, that brings up the point again, who would use a shotgun opposed to equipping a lighter all around weapon?

With my load out Im 200 + and my powers recharge pretty much automatically and Im spamming concussion shots not giving the enemy a chance..... why oh why would I want a shotgun?  Or Sniper rifle for that matter?

Crusader is a sniper rifle that uses buckshot, the only other gun I like as much as that is the Saber for one shot kills on regular infantry (Geth are just armoured, and almost impossible to one shot drop) or two for the heavier armoured enemies from the other side of the map.

Nah, no one has ever used shotguns, they're just there... *cough*

But seriously, it really just depends on what you want to play. A Infiltrator can be very deadly with one of these, as can a Sentinel, a Soldier, a "you build it, you work it" character... ;)

I think the problem wasn't the weight system, it was that it penalized you too much. Weapons giving you cooldowns of 30-40 seconds on powers . . . that's just ridiculous.

What? Weight system was a great addition that demands some actual decisions between weapons. It stands to reason that most powerful weapons should also weight the most.

The weight system actually allows more diverse builds and characters to be made, I like it.
