How about a little 21st century technology for the mods?

The real problem though is changing categories for a project once its set up. Currently, I believe that is not possible.

Use the search feature to narrow down your search and find exactly what you're looking for.
What's great about having it all here already is that you don't need to go to some third party website and register an account *again* just to get content that's already available here under your current account.

IGN don't plan to make a vault for DA. Even if they did, given the NWVault precedent, their terms would probably be as unfavourable to module authors as Nexus. As I see it, no one else matches the protection EA offers us in the Terms of Service, which is why my work will be published here.

The problems range from small ones ("Last post" link in discussion section not working. No way to jusmp to the last comment in the comments section - you have to go through all the pages to reach the end) to major ones (illogical list of project categories, no way to re-categorize projects, no way to skip projects that are just ideas or [WiP]).
The fact is that if anyone is just looking for mods to download, it is probably more sensible to go to a site like damods.
I am only uploading my work here, though - hoping that BioWare will improve this site, but it has to happen soon.

To be honest, I agree with your reservations - presumably, Bioware is working to fix this quickly, in the light of the feedback.Adinos wrote...

To me, the ones here make far more sense than the ones on NWVault; these ones actually tell you what should be found in a given area.

Agreed that we need these abilities.

I won't download anything from any other site; if it's not here, I don't need it.

Anyway, I've been trying to upload my files, but the system is still very buggy, and the file never "takes" - Even though the upload seems successful, the file is not listed in my project page.
Further, it's quite a bit difficult to browse through the mods, meaning ACTUAL mods not just concepts. So many times I've been intrigued by a mod description only to see that it was a concept only without any actual mod files to back it up.

I hope EA/BioWare can make an agreement with the IGN to open a vault.
There is a private owned "vault" by Reynen Starfyre on http://www.damods.com

From what I undestand, the current system only recogniaes zip as a valid file extension so if you're using 7zip, you need to rename them.

If there aren't files, the download link is usually not clickable on the main page short description.

I am hoping for a DAVault in IGN, and posted a thread about this a while back http://social.biowar.../8/index/172676

I emailed Maximus (admin for NWVault) a few weeks before DA came out, and he said at the time, they had no plans on creating a DAVault.

I would guess the EA/BioWare would need to reach an agreement with IGN to create the davault, as for nwn and other great games they support.Challseus wrote...

But if they are planning on using this website as a file distribution hub, then the chances are small. To bad, really like'd the IGN vault. And if there's no radical changes to this "social community", I will be really sad...

If Bioware now recognises that social site functionality is an urgent major issue (not limited to hosting), could we see a summary of the high-priority changes in the pipeline, as we have for other aspects of the game? That would help to establish confidence and promote constructive comment.

Also, I'm not liking any of the other sites that currently are hosting DA files. DAmods links me to a forum and for me that is a good visibility issue, the nexus is also a mess: it has a better interface but i'm sick of seeing casual mods and the "automatic" feeling of all the site.
I'd really love to see news every day, of the stuff that has been uploaded or updated, of people working on large projects, for supporting the people is working on mods and a decent rating system that won't popup "alistair without bra" mod as the most voted.
Dreaming! Hope BW can improve ths site and yes, give it an urgent issue.

Right, IGN abandonned their hosting support months ago (this summer all fansites were closed) so I don't expect there will be an IGN vault for DA.

Good suggestions. Did you post the in the SS Help forum? They really should be there!
