It's why I can't play Krogan - I've been downed by phantoms and hunters that were literally right in front of me that I couldn't see.
Yeah. I spend a lot of time playing Salarians.

However, I find myself looking askance at people talking about staring at their character's ass. I don't understand this, as I never really have time when actually playing to stare at any part of my character. I'm too busy shooting stuff.

Don't really care about the social stigma, considering there is none.

Agree. I never get the 'looking at ass' thing. I'm looking at other stuff.

I'm beginning to wonder, do you guys end up playing as Human Female characters in MP?
I can understand making a female Shep in SP, Hale does beat Meer by a considerable margin (Particularly in the first game!) but really, in MP?
Granted I am a bit conservative on the subject, playing as an Asari would make me feel like a cross-dresser of sorts, but really? Playing a HUMAN femaie?
Your problem seem to be that you project your real life identify into your in-game representation. You shouldn't.
If you do that, of course you'll find weird to play a different gender. But it is as stupid as claiming that males who play males in MMOs must be gay because they prefer to stare at a male's butt than a female one.
I don't invest any importance to gender, and I play males and females in ME3 indifferently, choosing only by the slightly different skill builds.

It's the internet/MMO version of "no ******" and it's as silly and pointless as OP's questionBellaStrega wrote...

I typically set up the female with the powers I think I want to use more, though, as she takes up slightly less space on camera (particularly compared to the big-shouldered male sentinel).
And I play asari all the time. Love stasis, and their dodge is cool.
All of that said: If a video game is getting you to question your sexuality in uncomfortable ways, it may be worth considering why you're so averse to that kind of pretend. Try playing single player sometime as a woman and romancing a guy; it may help you see things from another perspective. (I'm not saying it'll help you pretend to be gay, or that it will make you gay, but that it's kind of interesting to see how the story might actually FEEL different when you construct it as if it were about a woman instead of about a man – or a man's lesbian fantasy version of a woman.)

Your avatar is kinda mesmerizing and amusing. What's it from?Liana Nighthawk wrote...

Maybe its the inner jarhead in me (Military family), but I focus on my target, not my character. Easier to shoot that way. {smilie}
One wonders why the gender of someone else’s avatar should bother you, given all this interest in staring at targets.
On topic: Because I choose to.

First of all, hale has an annoying voice and is a horrible voice actress. Second of all, I give my male and females different power set ups.
In your opinion.
She's badass enough to be Samus Aran. And to be honest, I prefer her work over Meer's (though I'm not saying Meer's bad. He's also a CBC comedian!)

In addition to this, my second favorite race in the ME universe are Asari (natural biotics and all) so I use them rather frequently. Also; I like their physical features and voices. They're sexy. I could go on and on about why I play as female characters but that's just a little bit of it.
Also would like to note that it isn't some homophobic crap about not wanting to look at a guy's ass. I appreciate a nice, muscular man butt as much as the next straight guy lol.

But also, I don't really care that much. I play either one. Usually slightly different builds.

You do understand the concept of a role playing game, right? Some people, myself included, actually played ME for the RPG aspects, and find it uncomfortable role playing as a female. Let's stop criticizing each others play styles and enjoy the game in our own ways.
Of course this won't happen. This topic is like bringing up bf3 in a cod forum. You're going to get 3000 replies, most of them offensive and personal attacks. Welcome to the Internet.

I play only as female human or asari.
Why? Cuz they obstruct the view much less than the male ones. They feel
more nimble and have smaller hitboxes so you may get hit less
9 posts in and we get the hit box argument..

Shrug. If I'm going to look at the back end of a human for hours on end, it may as well be a female behind. And Hale's VA still have lines in MP.
.. and 1 post after that we get the "i like chick butt" argument.
usually these happen within the first 5 posts. that means we're getting better. good job, everyone. i'm proud of you.

@OP You're shocked by males using human females on mp yet femshep in sp iz fine. ok. x)
By the way, the cool thing about having 2genders for the same class is that you can use 2 different builds without respec/promoting. And I'm not even gonna say it's the reason why I play female characters in multiplayer.
