Get over it.
I like playing as different characters...

I actually think Meer done a better job than Hale, she tries too much. But on topic i play both male and female characters since i like changing things up all the time.
It's two different actors' interpretations of the same script, so naturally the characters they play will be completely different as well. In MP, M and F are practically identical: even physically there is very little difference in appearance. I really hardly notice.

I'm beginning to wonder, do you guys end up playing as Human Female characters in MP?
I can understand making a female Shep in SP, Hale does beat Meer by a considerable margin (Particularly in the first game!) but really, in MP?
Granted I am a bit conservative on the subject, playing as an Asari would make me feel like a cross-dresser of sorts, but really? Playing a HUMAN femaie?
I can understand guys playing as an Asari or Quarian, they do have cool power sets... but it really wierds me out when someone's character shows up as "human female" and the voice talking is male.
Well, this is starting to look like a whiny post instead of an inquisitive one...
Restatement,
Do guys play as human females (and vice versa), if so why and generally with what frequency?
Not sure if trolling or just incredibly insecure about his sexuality.
But to answer your question, female infiltrators feel and look more nimble, and with my colour scheme I resemble a Nemesis which I really enjoy the concept of.

Soldiers are male
Adepts are Female
Engineers are male
Sentinels are female
Dunno, I guess I associate biotics with females?

Honestly it's weird for me seeing male players play as cutesy female characters in games, but the female humans in MP aren't cute looking at all, so I'm okay with it. They actually look pretty cool. There's a sex appeal in them but barely - I think they were designed well.
I think that that discomfort comes with the personification of that character. Many players see their character as themselves, and so to them playing a character vastly different from themselves (such as a male playing female) makes them uncomfortable. I tend to see my character more as a one being observed, like in a book, rather than as a personification of myself. For instance, none of my SP Shepards act or look like me because I don't see them AS me. Other people, especially those who have been around RPing for a while, like to play characters vastly different from themselves because they get to "be themselves" every day in real life, so it makes it more interesting to play something different. I think that's why a lot of males choose to play female.

And yeah, it's only weird if you're insecure about your sexuality. Stop projecting your problems.

The male model is overly bulky for my taste, I prefer the idea of someone being really agile and nimble. Having a bulky guy makes me feel like I am a retard that can't do anything else so he just works out a lot.
As for Sentinel and Adept I play as male when I do. They are fit like they are suppose to be, not overly bulky or anything.

Either way... he'll be named "Manly-Manny" .. and he'll wear neon pink armor ... and use only the littlest pistol possible.

its just a bunch of pixels its a game, you should not limit yourself playing
anything just because someone may find it wierd or wrong , ive played
1 female soldier then went to infiltrator since then ive pretty much been
switching between salarian , krogan and now Geth
Note : this is not attack on people who do not like seeing this its my opinion
just sayin it doesnt bother me if a male plays female i do it myself too and
think nothing of it for the rest.

in every game when i'm alowed to have a female character i will play 1 because of that reason, i don't roleplay to be female so no, i don't feel like i'm crossdressing (or whatever you wanna call it) i'm just being a guy.
tbh, i don't rly get why people don't get that.

a very large number of people do, I find the fact that you are insecure about it to be more telling then dudes running female toons (which I will admit to doing quite often).
in some games, like monster hunter, the girls have much nicer looking armor.

Similarly my gay friends prefer a male character.
