 I'm a female and have a different build between my human Infiltrators in MP. My female packs a Claymore for devastating up-close-and-personal damage and the male is specifically tailored to use snipers. You can build the male/female humans to suit your needs (ie distance dps, support for biotic explosions or tech bursts). Thus the difference in IRL gender and MP gender.

Do guys play as human females (and vice versa), if so why and generally with what frequency? 

Yea, because why waste a Reset Powers if you screwed up your Male character slot with something you didn't want?  Or, same thing if you started out with a female character. Duh.

I play whatever, and it doesn't surprise me to hear male voices on female characters sense the majority of gamers are male.

I love most of Hale's works, but somehow, I dunno, FemShep seems off. It's like she's in a bad mood all of the time. Perfect for renegade runs though!

as for guys playing as females, have you ever read the 'Tomb Raider explanation'? "If I'm spending at least 20 hours looking at the same character through this game, expecially from behind, let it at least be a pleasant view"

MP I usually play as female characters, much because everyone else already plays as a male in my group.
as for single player ME, I play as a Male Shep.

"Sex" is a dirty word for some people, so a lot of people use "gender" as a more polite replacement.  "Race" is easier to type than "species," and gets used more often in  day-to-day conversation.  I enjoy random bouts of pedantry myself, but there are valid reasons for those particular word choices.

Meh, I prefer Hale's voice over Meer's.  Though I prefer Jo Wyatt (LadyHawke) over Hale; she does smartass a lot better.

All my Human characters are male. Except for my Adept. It just feels so stereotypically right.

Last week I got Sentinel to promotion level. I never unlocked a locked Sentinel, so I only had human male and female. I had the same build on both, but just for some reason seemed to better with her than with him, so I mostly played with her.

 It's an rpg.   The character you play is not necessarily supposed to represent you, look like you, or have your values.  I play male and female chars both, for just some diversity in what I'm seeing and gameplay.  I'm not really a Krogan.

I play both. My Engineer is male, my Soldier is female, and I use both Vanguard sexes for different builds.

I do not get this. The weirdest part is, this isn't the first time I've seen a topic like this, it pops up all the time in SP. "Why play a ~girl~ when you can play a MAN?"

I play a male salarian sometimes. That doesn't make me male or an alien. I play a geth sometimes. That doesn't make me a robot.
